This is a silly question, but I'm hoping I can get some leads...
In the house I need some kind of slippers or socks. The floor is cold, a few drafts make it imperative. Cotton socks are usually all I need for warmth, but they get dirty and holes easily wearing them around.
But all the slippers I've seen are fleece, wool (allergic, can't do), or some synthetic fibers...too toasty warm for toosties. My feet get too hot and sweaty and uncomfortable in these.
So any leads for either cotton slippers, some kind of indoor clogs without lining? There's the old-fashioned leather slippers that gentlemen wear that would be perfect if they came in women's. I found one pair, but it had polyester lining.
I'm picky about my fibers...but maybe someone else is and can give me ideas?

Could you have someone knit something for you?
I'm no fiber expert...so just tossing out an idea...
My feet get really cold, too and then, when it's time for bed, I think my dh might feel as if he'd gone to bed with a package of popsicles!

Have you searched for moccasins? I think they're sometimes available in unlined versions and are usually very comfortable. I'm pretty sure you can even get kits to make your own, if that suits your fancy. Just a thought.

LL Bean carries moccasins with a variety of choices (lined or not, type of lining, ankle height). I used to wear them all the time. Its been years and years since I've had them though.

I keep a pair of suede clogs from LLBean as my "in the house shoes." I don't remember exactly what they are called, but they were around $30 and I've worn them for 4 years and they are still going strong. I usually wear them with just regular socks.

Thanks for the ideas on the slippers. I found three pairs (expensive, of course) that I liked. If not, the moccasins are a great idea. I remember passing the kits at the craft store.
Leather Double Sole Slippers, Leather Lined
Handsewn Slippers, Cotton Flannel Lined
I found an Ugg brand slipper that would work, too...probably the only one made by them that I would actually wear. Those big old boots in suede are not practical or pretty in my mind!

I don't even remember why I decide to go this route (and they are pricey), but I got a pair of rubber Birkenstocks for my in-the-house shoes. They have a replaceable cork footbed, and they should easily last me until retirement because of that alone. You can wear them with socks or without; they can be washed; you can wear them outside if the situation arises. I love them!

Just finding this today Jenn -
I recently bought these terry bootie socks for my grandmother although that doesn't solve the "getting dirty" problem...
Here is the same company's slipper page, maybe something on here would be good? It's a website for elderly people with special needs so ignore the parts about "good for the self dresser" etc  I find it a great site for average people too though. Maybe the mukluks? Slipper page
The customer service from this company is wonderful, and if you have questions (or even want something you don't see) you ask and they will go out of their way to help.

I have been through so many slippers in search for the perfect ones too. I ended up going the Birkenstock and socks route and I love it.
