Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a gift for our God-daughter. She is a freshman at the University of Dayton. Her mother is from Spain and she has been there several times. Her major is Spanish and I know her heritage is very important to her. Her family is very Catholic and very pro-life. We don't get to see her much since we moved to Michigan so I really don't know that much about her. Any ideas? Good books? What do you think?

Becky....I think my FAVORITE idea would be the book:

A YEAR WITH THE SAINTS published by TAN BOOKS.....it is so absolutely wonderful!!

My 18 yo dd LOVES this book, as does Willa's teen dd......and ME, too!

Each month covers a virtue.....and each day has a reading using "episodes and sayings from the lives of the saints",,,,,,,incredible quotes!

also, The Temperament God Gave You: The Classic Key to Knowing Yourself, Getting Along with Others, and Growing Closer in the Lord by Art & Laraine Bennett

or, perhaps    The ABC's of Choosing a Good Husband by Steve Wood...which I think would be great paired with: Dating Mr. Darcy.....the author slips my mind & I cannot find my copy

An Imitation of Christ is wonderful, too.

......a great book with a small to medium crucifix would be great for a college student

Let us know what you choose!

Blessings,

Becky, another great book (especially if she goes to Europe often) is: Catholic Shrines of Western Europe -- we used this book extensively for planning our 2000 pilgrimage and then our few years over there. It's got great stories about the various sites! We went to Avila and Madrid but there were lots of other shrines just in Spain that she might find of interest.
