Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I had a friend recently tell me this incredible story "Left to Tell" about a Catholic Rwandan woman, Immaculée Ilibagiza, who survived the Tutsi massacre in 1994, under incredible odds (miraculous.) A woman who had great devotion to the rosary that got her through 3 months cramped in a toilet 1m x 2m with 8 other women without being discovered whilst her family was being massacred by her once loving neighbours.

It is a poignant story of FORGIVENESS - something that we all need to hear from time to time in our lives.

I was first told about it by a good friend who was deeply effected by the book and then just recently I saw Raymond Arroyo interviewing Immaculee on The World Over Live. So I tracked it down (had to be shipped from another state due to being sold out almost in Australia)

I have been saying more than my daily rosary since reading it and apply it more fervently to the spiritual/temporal needs in my life - this is a beautiful story amidst an incredible tragedy. I highly recommend this book! Has anyone else read it? What were your impressions? Maybe someone has met Immaculee as she lives in the States now.

I have heard of her but not yet read the book. She recently spoke here in Denver, but unfortunately I was not able to go. I would have liked to. The radio commercials promoting the talk were even powerful.

I just noticed a few minutes ago while reading my diocesan newspaper that she is speaking locally here next weekend. It would be wonderful to hear her. A friend met her after hearing her testimony and said it was tremendously moving. I haven't read her book yet either.
