Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What will you be buying your 7-year-old daughters this year for Christmas? We're really stumped with ours. She likes crafts but she's not really able to knit, crochet or sew much on her own. She likes to weave potholders but I think we've given everyone we know several of them !

Any suggestions? Thank you!

This year we are giving our 7 year-old dd Beethoven's Wig, an art set from Michael's, and a DustBuster (she asked for it). She would like to learn knitting or crocheting, but she is just not quite ready. She loves to write and illustrate her own books, so that is what we are emphasizing this year.

Brenda,

Illuminated Ink has some nice simple crafts. My dd is turning 7 in a few weeks and she's getting some kits from there.

Here some ideas:
Catholic Bookmarks
Marian Apparition Trading Cards
Precious Mary Paper Doll
Woven Cross Kit
Wooden Rosary Holder

Also, check out the crafts available from Oriental Trading Company. My sister-in-law gave my kids a huge box of stuff from there last week and they have been having a blast!

God bless!

I just bought mt 7yo niece something that we love around here:

The Knifty Knitter

I bought 2 skeins of Lion Brand Fun Fur yarn to go with the blue Knifty Knitter thing. It makes a great scarf. And it is SO easy!

How about beading projects. They come in different sizes too if she is not up to the smaller holes.

Or would she enjoy some stamp art kits or a scrapbook kit. My dd5 was given a card making kit for her birthday, a little too old for her to do by herself but would be fine for a 7yr old.

Last year I put together a box of scrapbooking items- blank journals, special paper, special scissors, a few punches, glitter pens, and some stickers.

She loved it! This year she is getting some stamp and card-making supplies. They also have neat chalk that can be brushed on with small sponges. She loves to give gifts so card-making will be perfect for her.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful suggestions! I had to laugh at Lisa's suggestion of Beethoven's Wig - we're big fans!
