Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Since Christmas is approaching fast I though I would share with you some of our favorite playthings. I just posted on my blog about the wooden toys that have stood the test of time at our house.

I enjoyed reading your blog Louise, especially since we are wooden block lovers here too! One question, how do you store them? Our's are in a large fabric bag ("Santa Clause size!"). Unfortunately, this bag makes putting them all away a huge job, especially since in order to find what they want they have to dump the entire bag out! I am totally patient with this as I see the creative genius emerging from my kids, BUT my dh (wonderful as he is!) isn't quite so thrilled with it when he comes home from work. So, how do you store them? Or do you? I noticed from the picture they were nicely arranged on the shelf. Do the kids put them away so nicely? (Mine need some serious training I think!)

Louise,

Can you come clean, clear, and organize our toy room? Pretty please? From where did you find all those festively colored wooden people? I love them!

Becky, as far as block storage goes, I have a big Rubbermaid tub, which we put the lid on when we don't use it.

One of my toy issues is that I'm quite finicky about what my kids play with. We stick with classic toys that stand the test of time, meaning that *everyone* still enjoys playing with them (12.5 yo on down to 1 yo). Having stuck with the classics, we tend to add to sets when we get more toys or have several sets with the same theme. For an example, we have a Duplo farm, a Playmobil farm, a wooden farm ... get my drift? I like to get each child one toy, one clothing item, and one book for Christmas, but I'm to the point where I don't know what to get the kids anymore! Even in clothes and books, because people are so generous, we're a bit overwhelmed. I try to pass on what I can ... I guess I'm not expressing myself well ... so I'll just hope that someone understands what I'm saying and picks up where I left off.
