Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do any of you know where I can get small (as in 3-5 inches tall) porcelain dolls? My 8yo has said she would like to add to her collection, so I am thinking ahead for Christmas. The dolls we already have were bought in various gift shops on trips taken either by our family or by grandparents. We have some pilgrim dolls purchased at Plymouth Plantation, Irish dolls purchased in Ireland, and Anne of Green Gables doll purchased in Canada, etc. The dolls bought at gift shops were reasonably priced.

Do you know how I can buy more online or in local stores? I found some at Dollmarket.com, but am hoping for some other sources.

Thanks for any help you can give.

This may sound corny, but I've seen these dolls this size at Crackerbarrel. I don't know if they are exactly what you are looking for.

Would you mind posting a link to a picture of these dolls? They sound interesting! They sound like a good Christmas gift.

Hi, Irene. My dd received a dollhouse kit (dh has been busy, busy!) for her bday. We purchased a porcelain doll family for her dollhouse from ebay! I would definitely check on ebay. Also, if you google porcelain dolls, there are many, many doll/dollhouse sites that carry them. Of course, some are quite expensive! The family we purchased has a 6 inch dad, mom and 3 inch boy and girl. We paid about $25 for the family.

At the risk of sounding cheap, or local Dollar General carries beautiful porclian dolls for $3.00 a piece. My girls have collected quite a few of these.

That's not corny at all. I've never been in a Crackerbarrel, but have noticed there is one about a half hour from me. I drive that direction every so often, so I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

As for the link to the picture, I don't think I can do that because I have yet to find exactly what I'm looking for online. And I don't have a blog to post any picture I would take of our collection. Sorry.

That doesn't sound cheap to me, Lisa. That's exactly the sort of suggestion I was looking for. I'm not sure if we have Dollar General stores around here. There aren't any in my immediate area, but there might be one in the town with the Crackerbarrel. I'll have to check it out.

I purchased some of our Victorian looking mini porcelain dolls at Michael's a few years ago. They were actually meant to be Christmas ornaments, but I cut off the hanging ribbons and gave the dolls as stocking stuffers, I think.

And thanks for the suggestion for looking on Ebay, Courney. I'll take a look.

Well, Ebay was it. I won auctions on two sets of dolls tonight. The dolls were a dollar each, and came to a little over $1.50 each with shipping. I decided to give some of these dolls to each of my younger girls for Christmas. There are more on Ebay. Just search under "porcelain doll" or (even better) "miniature porcelain doll".

Pictures of the ones I bought are here and here.

Thanks for your help, ladies.

So do I! That's why I got both sets. There were really plenty of dolls for the girls in the first set, but I fell in love with the ones with the braids and hats, and had to have them too. I saved on shipping since they were offered by the same vendor.
