Elizabeth, You will all be in our prayers. How awful!

My doctor strongly encouraged me to get a flu shot at my OB appointment earlier this week. I've never had one! She said being pregnant, I am in the risk category above the folks that are 65+ and healthy. (High fever could be very dangerous for the baby.) I'm a little nervous to do it...what are the side effects? Anyone else ever been in my shoes? Advice? Experiences?

I would not do it for the reason that they use aborted cell lines to create it. But we skip a lot of vaccines for that reason. The Church says is it up to you, as the moral culpability for someone in your position is very, very small.

What? I've never heard this. Oh my! I had no idea. I got a flu shot at my last OB appointment and got one at the end of my last pregnancy. A new study came out that the infants of mother's who get flu shots in their last trimester are immune from the flu for the first months of life. But regarding the aborted cells, I'm disgusted. Can you direct me to any info on this?

Oh, thank you for posting this. I did not know they had changed the source of the flu vaccines, this is very good news.

I'm pregnant and not getting one. There's tons of mercury in the flu shot, but I'm not telling you you shouldn't get one. Its a hard call.
