Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am very curious to know if any ladies have been pregnant and not tested positive with a home test kit?

This has never happened to me but I did have a friend once who did not test positive even 7 weeks after conception and had to have a blood test to confirm her pregnancy - sadly she lost the baby a week later.

My sister who has been trying to fall pregnant for 5 years and in September she had explorative surgery and found adhesions on her ovarys (she had suffered severe mid cycle pain as a young teenager) which were free-up and removed.

She is 13 days over on her first cycle where she was recovered enough to fall pregnant - she has never had anything like this happen before - she has a very regular 28-29 day cycle.

We are cautiously excited and hopeful for her and would love to here any feedback on similar experiences.

Anne,
When I was pregnant with number two, the home test came up negative and it was about four weeks past conception. He is the only one of my children that I didn't show signs of potentially miscarrying--cramping and spotting. The one miscarriage I did have tested positive with the home test. So from my experience I would say that it is possible to be pregnant and not have a miscarriage even if the home test isn't coming up positive. I will keep your sister and her husband in my prayers.

When I was pregnant with the twins I got three negatives a month after conception. Everything was fine.

I have tested negative on a couple of occasions. The first time was with my third child. I believed the tests, as I was still nursing and I did not feel sick. I found out that I was pregnant when I was 15 weeks along (my mom urged me to take another test). It was the shortest pregnancy that I have ever experienced.

I took 4 home tests of different brands a week apart starting at about 3 weeks after conception and ALL were negative with Bridget. I finally went to the ob because I sure felt pregnant and felt like an idiot for not knowing whether I was or not.

I was worried about m/c too, but glad to say she arrived just perfect.

number 2 I did not get a positive test at missed period (2 weeks from conception), or at 4 weeks from conception or at 6 weeks.. finally got one between 7 and 8 weeks. I just assumed that I must be and acted accordingly.. he was also the one I didn't have any pregnancy sickness with.

I did use a test for #3 (dh was leaving too soon for the chart to show for sure).. but the rest just waited on my chart to show.

I don't have anything to add here about pregnancy tests, but I will most certainly keep your sister in my prayers.

My sil always tested negative..the last time being in labor at the hospital 18 years ago with her youngest. She never had a positive pregnancy test...so the nurses had her do one for their own amusement while in labor..came back negative...Christopher was born 4 hours later.

It may have just been the tests back then..who knows..it always makes us laugh to hear her tell the stories.

Will continue to pray for your sister. I know how she feels ...when you want a baby of your own to love.

God bless,

Marybeth

Anne,

I tested negative on the first test I took for the baby I'm carrying now. I think I probably just took it too early. A week later it was positive.

Your sister could be having a long cycle in which she ovulated very late. A home pregnancy test often is not sensitive enough to detect the pregnancy hormone until about 14 days after ovulation. Does your sister know when she ovulated? That information would help her to determine when she is really "late" and could take a home pregnancy test. Most women will have a period about 12-14 days after ovulation.

I teach the sympto-thermal method of NFP, so feel free to PM or post for more clarification!

Dawn

Thank you, thank you for all those stories!

Unfortunately today my sister's cycle returned (a good fornight or more later) - a most unusual state of events for her - so many dear hopes we had for her and her husband!

Thank you for your support in my wonderings and offering prayers for her on-going situtation - a wonderful, big to you all!
