I don't use Netflix, but Blockbuster.com. I think the service is pretty much the same. I'm not sure about the current price comparison. But it's so easy and convenient. You can place as many movies as you want in your queue (and prioritize them) and you can keep 3 rented at a time and keep them as long as you like. When you're done, you just put the DVD in the postage-paid envelope and send it back. They immediately send you the next movie in your queue upon receipt. I have a friend who uses Netflix and she is very happy with it. From what I understand from her, it's an identical system.

Love it, love it, love it. The best thing is I am no longer racking up the late fees.
Now if they only had a similar system at my library...

I am enjoying it considerably. Enough to consider upgrading our plan. They also have a large varity of classics, Catholic shows, and educational materials! Sister Wendy's Art DVD's are great (she does deal with nudity though for those who wouldn't like that, but I think she's tasteful about it.) NOVA and PBS stuff. history and science documentaries too.

We have Netflix and LOVE it! We currently have the 4 at a time program. 1 movie is for the kids; 1 movie is for me; 1 is for DH; 1 is for me & DH. When money was tight, we have dropped down to the 2/time option as well.
They have a huge selection! We have gone through almost every IMAX movie (we all enjoy) and they have so many movies that you wouldn't find locally (at least not easily). There are many Catholic movies, tons of documentaries and foreign films, lots of educational shows.
We go through some months where we'll get 4 and it'll take us all month to watch them, other months where we're going through all 4 each week.
We've had Netflix for 3 years or so (?) and never had a problem. I love that there are no late fees, and I love the wide breadth of movies available.

I signed up for a membership for a month so we can watch Steve Ray's Moses (Footprints of God series). It was soooo good!!! We used to be Mentura members, but find that we don't watch movies as often as I thought we would, so the monthly fee was a waste on us. Now that we have several libraries I'm also able to get a lot of the videos we like free. So it's the occasional Catholic video (which we sometimes prefer to just buy anyway) that would be the reason for me to join something like Netflix again. Maybe next year.

You could see if your library has teacher cards. Ours does and it means no late fees on books or videos. I use it all the time for videos. The librarian said as long as we don't take out the most recent releases I can use the teachers card.
I am also looking into Netflix for us for the things our library system doesn't carry. It sounds great--especially for winter months

And they have a great number of Mormon films, that we watched this summer for good clean laughs. They also have tons of classical music DVDs, including some fairly obscure stuff.

We just joined for the long winter months at the lowest rate. I am so not a movie person. There are very few i can sit through. Is there any way we can keep a running list of recommendations. I know there have been some in several threads. It seems daunting to go through all those lists Netflix has to choose family movies.
ETA: I see someone just started a new thread on this here

Jackie,
We love netflix here.........most of the movies we rent are related to our studies......middle ages, modern, presidential, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc...
about one in every six or seven movies we borrow is a fun movie.......my kids are huge musical fans.........so we are often checking those out....oh, yeah, and the classics, too.......and I love Lucy
....and about one in 25 is just for mom
I am so grateful to ShawnaB for sharing her subscription with us.........it sold us!
.....one of the things I esp love.......is that we can "go" to Mount Rushmore or Yosemite.......without it costing much in $$ or effort .......plus, all of the documentaries are so well-researched....much more fun than a textbook, any day!
I almost forgot.......Netflix "tickets" to classical music concerts, ballets and operas are WAAAAYY cheaper than what we would have to pay in San Francisco, AFTER we drove 6 hours to get there, of course
Let us know what you do...........and how you like it, if you go that way!
