Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sometimes I feel so out of sync with the world.

Last week Sister B.... dropped around to my place. Sister is the modern equalivant to the Mother Superior of her order. I'm not to sure what they are called these days. Sister turned up at my door in shorts I have to say that I was floored. Modest shorts I will admit she looked lovely in fact very classy, still....

Later in the week as I entered the local swimming pool for dd's lesson I passed the local Christian school leaving. I was totally shocked to see a string bikini top on the teacher. When I went to teacher's college we were told that teacher's had a certain dress code and I'm afraid that string bikini's aren't it in my opinion good enough.

I have debated with myself as to whether I'm being too prudish, however I really don't think I am. I believe we have a right to expect our leaders to set a good example. Perhaps I ask too much.

My first thought was what/where does she live? Then I realized it was Erin and well her weather is a bit different than Chicago, Illinois.

This year our DRE asked the teachers to come dressed modestly to all religious education functions and classes and please no jeans. Why does she need to tell grown-ups how to dress? It's crazy! I can't believe how low cut some tops are on woman who are married and have many children. I just don't get it.
Aren't they cold?

I feel for you Erin!

It is thoroughly unprofessional for a teacher to wear a bikini at ANY school, much less a Christian one! yikes!

Thank you both for making me feel like I'm not so over the top, I worried after I posted.

You're not over the top, Erin ... standards have been systematically lowered over the years, and I think so many women, even those involved in Christian endeavors, have gotten caught up in the spirit of the age, and have lost sight of more timeless standards of modesty.

Our local Catholic school just allowed the students and parents to vote on what the volleyball girls will wear, and the uniforms that look (to me) like underwear won.

My dds and I went shopping this weekend.
I know exactly what you mean.    I sat in one of the open-areas letting the little ones play while Kayleigh peeked into some shops and I watched the people. I was thinking how out-of-touch I had become. And did I (do I) really want to be part of this "reality".

I also noticed that what we use to consider "negligee" tops are now worn as proper apparel.
