Hi Ladies,
So much has been happening here that life is truly been a whirlwind! My dh was offered a job in Greenville, SC that we are seriously considering. I've never lived anywhere but Miami, FL and close to my parents. My parents are a big part of our lives but have a busy life of their own. They want to move with us (in their own house) if we go. That has it's pros and cons, but it's too long of a story.
Well, we had previously signed a contract to remodel our kitchen including knocking down two small walls to expand it. The cabinets come Dec. 2. But my dh has to do all the demolition and reconstruction on his own (on the weekends) to save money. So, today I'm starting to pack up the kitchen and realize that I don't know HOW to pack fragile things (considering that in Jan, these dishes may be making a journey to SC), I don't know what to pack up, or how to function without the use of our kitchen till at least DEC. 2.
I also don't know whether to start packing the rest of the house since dh has not officially accepted the offer. We have prayed to live somewhere with seasons and lower cost of living and more land for soooo long. Now that an opportunity is actually here, I'm so scared and questioning. I prayed this morning that the Lord would forgive me if He's leading and I'm just not recognizing His voice. I'm a bundle of nerves and energy just thinking about moving. So much to do. I go from cleaning and homeschooling in a frenzy then I crash for a day. I am struggling with pacing myself. Dh would start in Jan. if he accepts the offer.
I am not going to have much help with packing and homeschooling 3 children and chasing a toddler. I don't know where to start. I wish I could have been a fly on Lissa's wall the past month to see how it all came together. Her story has been inspiring and encouraging to me. I could really use some guidance, so please give me your tips on how to get through the next 3 months.

Ana,
With grace we can do anything. My grandmother used to repeat this saying -- you eat an elephant one bite at a time.
Just tackle in small bits. I gave myself small goals each day -- pack 1 or 2 boxes a day. I would either do at naptime or when ds was in bed.
First I tackled all the hanging pictures, knick-knacks, rarely used dishes, china, crystal, books (although it was emotionally hard to pack the books), photos, frames, out of season clothing. Go through your storage items, like Christmas stuff, and repack the boxes so they can survive a move. Label, label, label well. Keep a notebook of what you have done and packed.
Then toys, stuffed animals, things that aren't used too much. Craft items, sewing supplies, table linens, candles, Cds, records, vhs tapes...just keep out the ones that will keep the kids occupied when you're in the time crunch when everything must be packed.
There's no way to make it easy. Try to get some help towards the end so you can do the marathon packing.
Praying for you...been there, and it's tough.

Ana -
A few years ago we were in a similar position of thinking we were moving and that it would be on short notice. I know that urge to do SOMETHING, but not seeing a reasonable starting place. What I did was to start the grand purge; it was energy well spent, as it lead to the whole house looking much nicer and better for the eventuality that it would be on the market. Even though dh turned down the job offer, we still appreciated the cleansed house that we continued to live in!
Peace,
Nancy

I found myself fascinated by Lissa's story also as I knew it was going to be us soon. Here are some tips on how I am dealing with it. Before we had our offer accepted I did a deep clean as advised already. Now as I am packing it has made it so much easier. although I am still finding excess I missed before. I am planning on having a garage sale with our unused, unneeded clutter. As we are now aiming to have the house on the market within two to three weeks I am not only packing but then cleaning. I haven't even begun to contemplate the cleaning.
To make my job simple for future buyers/viewers I have packed up all the children's belongings in their bedrooms. So all toys, books and clutter are gone. I have even gone a step further and packed all their clothes in suitcases bar a five outfits and church clothes. We have hired a storage shed so have taken several loads to the site.
Today I started packing all the children's toys, games and craft supplies up. Making sure I labelled really well. I left a couple of games out so that should be less to keep track of.
I am still feeling overwhelmed but then I try to just focus on what task at a time. This week I plan on getting back to some lesson time in the morning and I will work on packing and cleaning in the afternoons. the dc have been brilliant this weekend but I do think the little ones need some sort of routine.
I asked for help on this thread also, I don't know this situation relates to yours.
