Where do you find your favorite denim skirts that are below the knee but easy to move around in throughout the day. Also do you wear leggings under them when it's colder outside, or do you have an alternative to this?? Thanks so much

My favorite skirt is from here.
It is long and a lot of fabric, so I wear it the most in fall and winter. I usually wear tights or leggings and socks when it's very cold. This skirt fit me throughout most of my last pregnancy, as well!
My favorite denim summer skirt was a light weight tiered denim, similar to the one on the website linked to above.

Hi Meredith!
I have recently gone to all skirts all the time...pretty much anyway. Since I have been in the market, here is what I found...
Macy's has great skirts. I bought several there, include 2 jean varieties like you are describing. Their sales can be really, really great.
Eddie Bauer has very nice jean skirts, and if you go to www.eddiebauer.com and then link to their outlet, you can find some great prices.
Old Navy is hit and miss. Sometimes they have very cute denim skirts. The Gap used to be my stand-by, but lately, yuck. However, I have bought goood denim skirts there in the past, and I have the best luck with the online store.
JJill (www.jjill.com) has beautiful skirts, and usually several denim styles.
Happy shopping! Got your message...yesterday was very full...piano lessons for Abraham with Chari's Anne! We'll connect soon!

My favorite jean skirt is from Eddie Bauer. I got it on clearance sale but would have been willing to pay full price had I known how comfy it would be. I wish I'd bought two! Full-length and plenty of style...not dowdy at all. I just wear comfy gym socks with it around the house and colored knee socks when I'm going to town (the skirt is full length so it hides the knees completely).
Now, if I could just find something stylish and comfy like this in the maternity section at our local store!!

Does anyone have any ideas about where to find maternity skirts or dresses? I am trying to go to all dresses/skirts, but maternity has (happily) taken all of my wardrobe away.

Depending on your size.. I noticed a very nice mostly straight flannel lined denim skirt at lanebryantcatalog that and a corduroy I'm "drooling" over. I found a comfy casual elastic waist lightweight denim skirt last year at bedfordfair
For maternity my best things were made for me by vesselsofmercy very reasonable prices.. I have a dress and 2 jumpers that have been wonderful.. I'm hoping to have her make me a non-maternity dress for this winter.
Oh and my one real splurge on clothing is silk long underwear from cabelas I get them a bit big and they can even be worn for maternity.. then I tend to knee high winter boots.. or if it's not cold enough for a full covering under the skirt (I find the skirt keeps me nice and warm but if my legs touch the fabric the fabric is chilled.. so something on my legs keeps me nice and cozy) I use knee high socks and ankle boots.

I agree with LisaD. I really like the skirts from there. The non-denim are heavier than the denim. The denim are light and easy to move in, though they fade like jeans. I wear knee-hi socks with these skirts in cold weather.

Anyone have any suggestions for skirts for petites? (I'm not small, just short. ) I like skirts that come down almost to my ankles, but if they're made long already, they'll drag the floor on me. And I have no sewing skills to speak of.

Angela,
You can probably get a long skirt hemmed professionaly for about $10. I used to get all my jeans hemmed back in my college days when I got sick of rolling my pants like a complete nerd.
I'm still a nerd but my skirts are at least the right length!

I wore these during my last pregnancy (denim and twill) and loved them. Very comfortable! The twill ran bigger than the denim but both must be fairly roomy because I had the skirts in medium and I'd say I'm a pretty large medium! Congratulations on your new little one on the way!

The jean and corduroy skirts here are wonderful. If you watch, they will go on sale for $35. Very high quality, excellent customer services...I really like this store.
As for maternity, here are some links I found but I haven't ordered. JinJi and It's a Miracle Maternity

Well I ordered two from Eddie Bauer and 1 from the site Lisa recommended, don't now about sizing and fit, but am anxious to see the quality of both and I'll let you know how they work out!
Shawna, I LOVE the Nordy's skirt, may try that one if the others don't work out!!
Thanks for all your suggestions!
Blessings!

Here is a question for those of you who wear the skirts from the modest dressing websites, particularly the Islamic one: Do you wear the skirts to the floor? Or do you hem them so they are a bit above your ankles?

I am 5'10" and the skirts that I have ordered come a few inches above my ankles. So I think they are perfect!
However, these skirts are "modern" in there appearance (not immodest), so even if they went to the ground and you had on "modern" top (not the tunic types shown) I think you would be pleased with the look and feel very American/modern. Make sense?!

I just found this page of modesty fashion links!
http://www.colleenhammond.com/resources.html
The ones marked "New!" seem to be the best, in my opinion. Here's a great denim skirt I found on "Below the Knee", a link there:
http://belowtheknee.com/ladies-juniors.html
I think I might get that denim one!
