Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I hope this is the correct place to post this question.

We are thinking of traveling to Canada. My oldest children think it would be neat to see "somewhere else" and since Windsor is only 60 - 90 minutes away it's very doable for a day trip.

However, I'm concerned about citizen documentation. I have/can get birth certificates but don't have any other id for them.

Has anyone crossed the border with children in the past few years? Does this documentation make for an easy crossing? The Windsor website says an original birth cert. is required and a passport is ideal. However, passports are pretty pricy for 5 children (especially since they won't see any other use).

Thanks for any info.

I travel through Canada often and have done it several times in the last couple of years with DD (as recently as August). I only have a birth certificate for her and it has never been a problem. In fact, on one trip DH forgot to bring our bc (including dd's). Since we were already 5 hours into our trip there was no turning back. We made it through with no issues. They were going to require a passport for travel to Canada by the end of this year, but that has been scrapped because of the cost. You will be fine. Just be sure to fuel up in the US as gas is very pricy in Canada.

Marie,

I live fairly close to that border crossing, and we often take daytrips into Michigan. A birth certificate will suffice for all members of your family. PM me if you'd like some suggestions on what to see here!
