I have heard this as a rumor but Fr. Joe is saying today that "The Vatican has confirmed, and it is no longer just a rumor, Pope Benedict XVI will release a motu proprio extending permission for priests to celebrate the Tridentine Latin Mass of St. Pope Pius V. This universal indult would replace the Ecclesia Dei indult of 1988 that allowed individual bishops to establish places where the traditional Latin Mass could be said. The new effort reverses the situation. Every priest would automatically have permission to offer the old Latin Mass, unless the local bishop restricts him from doing so in his faculties."

Anyone have any more info.?

This is about all we have heard thus far too. We are hoping for holy changes here in the Joliet Diocese in Illinois...we have a new bishop and hopefully he will be open to the Latin Mass. My dh has a strong belief our pastor will have a weekly Latin Mass if possible. As my dh says, "he puts enough Latin in the Mass now and in the bulletin to show his love and reverence."
