Has anyone noticed the reaction you get when you walk into a "Christian Book & Gift" store when you tell them you are Catholic??? I had the strangest thing happen yesterday...I go in to find some books/etc. and had to ask a salesperson for help and mentioned being Catholic and all of a sudden she's treating me like dirt. What's up with that??? I don't think I'll ever go back there, not to mention they don't have much Catholic material!!!
I usually just go in, get what I need and get out, but yesterday I had to ask for some help....not a good idea!

Anyway, just had to vent.....sorry.

Yes, I've had the same experience. Not very "Christian" if you ask me!LOL!
They really should be called "Protestant Book and Gift" IMO.

That's sad.

We have a store here that's non-denominational that has Protestant and Catholic materials, AND people working in it. In fact, there's a sister working there.

There is a Catholic book section, there are rosaries, and a few medals, etc. I'd like it to have more, but I've supported them (as opposed to the protestant christian book store) for years, because they are a blessing there.

But there's an AMAZING Catholic book store (about a 30 minute drive) that I so love! It's called Upper Room Books, and it's incredible! A Catholic homeschooling family from our support group owns it, so we try to go there as often as possible! We have another Catholic book store closer to us, but we rarely go there. It's quite small.

And I don't ever take these places for granted, that's for sure!

It is all in the NAME. We just had this discussion locally in our homeschool community.

It is NOT a "Christian" book store. It is a "Protestant" book store and should be named appropriately but it isn't. The fact is is that protestants hijacked the word "Christian" away from our faith.

Now, it would make sense if a "Protestant Books & Gift" store lady wasn't nice to you because you are Catholic because protestants have been miffy with Catholics for many years, right?

There is usually at least one good Catholic book store in every major city - take your money there if you can. Or go online to all the great bookstores available instead!
