I did a search and I found several threads with laminators in them - but none that really had the answers to my questions. Forgive me, please, if my search wasn't thorough enough...

1) Do you have one? I, personally, do not. That said, I am quickly discovering that "if only I had one" I could whip things up (more quickly) as opposed to waiting for bunch of things to need laminating and then running to the office supply store.

2)If you have one, do you find owning one is "worth it"?

3) What brand? In previous threads, I saw some people had one from Walmart. I looked - I saw a "Duck" brand one.

4) Where do you buy your laminating supplies from?

5) Oh - hot vs. cold?? - do I even need to worry about this one? Does it matter, really?

I bought one about a year ago, the Duck one from Wal-Mart. It is a hot laminator. I haven't used it tons, but I have used it enough to justify it, imho. I'm just beginning to make some file folder games for the new year, and I've used it quite a bit for that. It's nice to have one on hand...I'm terrible at planning ahead, so waiting till I have enough to get to Staples doesn't work out too well.
The pouches aren't terribly expensive at Wal-Mart, but I think I'm going to see if I can find the proper size online somewhere cheaper.

I have a Xyron 850 which is not a hot laminator. It is sold in the scrapbooking sections of Michael's or Pat Catan's craft stores. I use it quite often, (most days for something or other! ) There are a few different sized Xyrons. I bought the one that can laminate regular sized pieces of paper (8 1/2 x 11). I really like it.

What's the difference between hot and cold? What holds up better after time? I've used laminated items where the plastic comes apart especially in items that were cut up.

I have an Xyron 1200. I bought it 5years ago and I still love it. It is a cold laminator and I have had no problems with the adhesive coming apart.
