Due to Lissa's wonderful idea (and a nudge from Willa ) I've set up a Charlotte Mason blog - to share in her words the wisdom from her books.
Please, if someone else would rather do this, come forward! I'm doing it because I think it IS a great idea, something neat to have on a regular basis (I can't promise every day) -- but I'm not wedded to being THE one doing it.
I'm going to go through her Homeschooling Series in order, picking out the important stuff - which will probably be most of it, since her writing is so dense with meaning and ideas! But that means that other people can help or take over at any time if you'd like (sense a trend here? )
I'll probably start posting tomorrow so get it on your bloglines if you'd like a (semi) daily dose of Miss Mason.
Here is the link-

By the way, what gave me the idea for the CM blog was a similar thought I had--and actually started--for doing an "Around the Year with the Von Trapp Family" blog, using the text of Maria von Trapp's book (which is available for download in the EWTN library). I was going to post a passage each day pertaining to the appropriate day or season of the liturgical year.
But I only got about a day into it and ran out of time. Here's as far as I got: Von Trapp Blog. (See, it was even green for ordinary time.)
So there's another project waiting for someone who has the time.

Lissa, I'm NOT LISTENING
*humming loudly with my fingers in my ears*
Seriously though, I have had this Von Trapp text saved in my bookmarks to read at a later date. It is relatively easy for me (with a cable modem and all) to put things in wordpress to be posted at a later date, all as I go along.
If no one else takes it by the time I've gotten to it, I'll take on the challenge!

Well, whoever wants it (Aaaaammmmmyyyyy, it's calling your naaaame) (or maybe a couple of you would like to share the duties), let me know and I'll give you the password for the one I've already set up. I started it before I knew Scott was going to be offered this job in California! My computer time has been seriously walloped since he left.

Oooh, aaaah, this is TOTALLY up my alley. I was the one that scanned it in the first place so that EWTN can now share the wealth...last night I just watched their biography and now this? I hear my name being called.
I have to look at other similar blogs to see what kind of chunks are you talking about, and is it a daily, weekly, what? I hate to take something on and leave for vacation and abandon the project.

Jenn,
If you're looking for affirmation that is is indeed your name, I thought of you as soon as I read this and was planning to write you privately and encourage you to do it. You go, girl! I'm so tickled at the thought of this--so tickled!
Any verterans out there want to marvel with me at how far we have come wrt to available resources? It's a whole new world...

Does this have image capability? I'm wondering if I could add some of the images...at least the music. That has always bothered me that the text can't share the riches of music and illustrations.

How wonderful!
And I agree, Elizabeth. How things have changed since we first started homeschooling our oldest 12 years ago!(about the time we got our first computer and the old "Oregon Trail" was the hottest thing around!) The resources available today are amazing!
