Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This kind of goes along with the recent de-cluttering thread. I hung a paper that says "Leave No Trace" on our fridge not too long ago. The kids kept asking what it is for. It's something we see when we go hiking a lot. For hiking it means, obviously, don't leave trash etc. in the trails. As a family this is important to us and my kids are good at even picking up trash that others have left behind. ANYWAY,
the other night at dinner I explained to the kids that we need to have a similiar thing here at home. We're great at "leaving no trace" when we go hiking, but we think nothing of leaving our stuff all over the house, which sometimes includes trash (granola bar wrappers, crumpled drawing paper, etc.) So we are going to try a "leave only good traces" thing at home. Good traces are things like beautiful drawings hanging on the fridge or a lovely bowl of fruit on the counter.
The kids are actually enthused about the idea and will remind each other - "you left your Polly Pockets on the floor, that's a trace". So far, it is working well, but it's only been 2 days so we'll see what the long term is. I'm learning to quit leaving traces too - books on the counter or end table, notes to myself in places other than my planner, laundry on top of the dryer, etc.
FWIW

I LOVE IT!!! thank you!

The other thing I thought of was leaving a reminder in the bathroom...something catchy about leaving it cleaner than you found it...I saw a verse to that effect some time ago...wish I could remember it...maybe I will use both...my own kind of framed art

Watch out kids..heeeere's MOM!...new and improved!

You all have no idea how you're are feeding my nesting urge. It's like pregnancy hormones on steroids. Watch out for the lady with the broom and the trash bag!

I love the "Leave no trace" comment - it might go on our fridge this week!

We tend to have signs on the firdge each month or so, to encourage behaviours and attitudes.

We've had the RAH one in the past - and the exercise one - and the we speak nicely one. Perhaps its time for the leaving no trace sign.
