Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wasn't sure if this belonged in Book Club or here, but I wanted to mention a fun quiz I posted at my blog today: Which Jane Austen Heroine Are You?

Who do you think you are (or wish you are) and who did you end up being?

You're Catherine Morland of Northanger Abbey! Innocent and good-hearted, you love to read gothic novels, the elements of which find their way into your daydreams.

I'm Marianne Dashwood at 85%.

Then, Anne Elliott at 80%.
Tied for third place are: Elinor Dashwood 70% and
Elizabeth Bennet 70%.

My dh would dispute the results of this quiz. He definitely sees me more as the Elizabeth Bennett type. I wonder why.

Ok, I just retook it.

Now, I scored Elinor Dashwood. Must be the medicine.

I was hoping to be Elinor or Elizabeth Bennett, but ended up Marianne Dashwood. That character greatly irritated me so I was a bit disappointed by that!

It was such a complex quiz. I await the results of those I know in person .

It's a strange quiz. I'm Anne Elliott, but I'm sure I could manipulate it in other directions. I have strange tastes, but the movie Persuasion is my favorite JA flick. No one else gets it in my family, but I feel very connected to Anne's Character.

I wasn't going to do it but I saw MacBeth wanted people she knows in person to validate results. So...I'm Marianne Dashwood. And I think that means that I'm the same as Dawn in almost every internet quiz thus far...I'm going to just let her take them for me from now on .

I was thinking I could play both parts in the remake of the movie. The family resemblence between the characters would be remarkable. Maybe, I'd get double the pay, too.

Wow...again an example of the distortion of my mind. Can I still blame the meds?

Ack, I'm Emma -

You're Emma Woodhouse of Emma! You're intelligent and manipulative, and tend to form strong opinions of people. You are also very popular, and like to help others.

Hmmm...that doesn't really sound like me, maybe I should take it again.

Ooooh! That was lots of fun!!! Thank you Dawn!

I'm Marianne Dashwood (with 80%)

and then a close second as Elinor Dashwood (75%)

..does that make me a little contraditory?

Where is that movie? (hope it's not tucked far away round here).....I just feel like something like that tonight!

Dawn... can you find a Tintin one? My kids would LOVE that!

(Got us thinking about Tintin again in this household)

Now could you see Marianne Dashwood camping? Seriously, though, Macbeth, we may not be able to make the camping, but *anytime* you and your crew are here in MA I would LOVE to have you guys for a visit!!! (We're not far outside of Boston. ) Then we really would know each other IRL and that would be *wonderful*!

Will do Elizabeth! And if I'm not mistaken I believe our birthdays are quite close as well! (January right?)

Amy, I was Emma at first too! But I messed up pasting in the HTML so I went back to re-do it and I was Marianne. So do try again if you don't like the results!

Yep. January 10th. But I'm as old as your husband...

I'm Elinor Dashwood at 80%, followed by Marianne Dashwood at 75%. I, too, wonder how so many of us came up close to both of those characters. In the book they come across as very different. Split personalities maybe?!
