Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My go-to site, screenit.com has gone to charging for membership . Since "movie reviews" is not a budget item, I'm looking for free movie review sites for parents. Help?

I use kidsinmind.com It gives a very detailed explaination of the violence, s*x, and bad language in each movie. The CAtholic bishop's also have a site but its not as thourough. http://www.nccbuscc.org/movies/

You can still use screenit if you want reviews on movies that have been out for a couple of weeks. This doesn't always help of course especially in the height of Pirates coming out! If you go all the way to the bottom of the screen and then bypass a couple of adds, and say no thanks to subscribing you can get to "older" movies.
Also, we use decentfilms.com a lot too!

Plugged In Online
We might have a few others in our favorites (this is my husband's focus ~ I'm the bookworm).

www.commonsensemedia.org for movie reviews similar to screenit---

Also, I would like to warn you ladies about Pirates. We saw it yesterday unfortunately without screening it first.   It is very scaaaaaary and creeeeeepy and has lots of disturbing images that are just yuck to look at and a voodoo-type woman with bloodshot eyes and bluish teeth! Lots of rotten teeth in this one!

The good parts are still worth it---let's face it, it's fun and the score is rousing, the acting good---but my children were disappointed overall, and it is definitely not appropriate for little ones. AND while I'm at it (missed my calling? ): it is long, the plot/script is convoluted....a bit forced/timing off--not as funny, in my opinion.

Oh well, just my humble 2 cents from one mom to another.

Happy Weekend to all. Today is my Maggie's 8th birthday!

I always go to screenit and pluggedinonline when I'm looking for a movie review. I am very cautious about what movies we watch and ALL my other "secondary" sources have been listed here. If you are a screenit fan, I think that pluggedinonline (from Focus on the Familiy) is the next best thing.

The DecentFilms site is fine, but it doesn't give me the specifics that I want to know before seeing a film. It does consider the "moral-spiritual" values but they are really more like a "regular" movie review.
