I was making my blog rounds this morning and see many of us got the same spam comment last night. I just wanted to let Typepad useres know I went into "List Comments" and was able to ban that person's IP address from accessing my site again. Just thought I'd mention it ...and I hope that does it!

Typepad also lets you ban specific words. I was having trouble with some particularly nasty trackback spam from different IP addresses, so I banned all the offending words (felt icky typing them in though) and that solved the problem. Whew.

I use a spam filter called Spam Karma 2 on my blog and it caught that one for me, as well as every other one so far. I recommend it, though I have no idea how you would install it on your blogs.

And you know what was the real shame? She (he?) left the spam comment under my son's birthday post and we were all excited there was another comment.
I will say it's the first time I've had any spam on my site.

Just a bit slow, but nothing else. Hope it clears up for you, Meredith!

Spam Karma 2 is a Wordpress plug-in, so can't be used for MT/Typepad. Another great plug-in, for those of you who use WordPress, is Akismet. So far it's caught 100% of the spam I get at NoodlesandRice.

I got the same spam, and noticed that many of you got it. I use the word verification feature on Blogger, and that usually blocks spam ... not sure how this one got through, unless the spammer actually sat and typed on blog after blog??

Me too. All spam attempts get blocked. Love it!
