Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our wedding reception song was "You're The Inspiration" by Chicago.

Does anyone else remember their momenteous song?

Moon River.

My inlaws hired the band (Big Band and Swing music). With all of the details of our wedding we forgot to meet with them and choose a song. That song must have simply been next on the set list. I laugh about it now, but at the time I was quite bothered because we had no connection to that song.

I am told that it is from the Breakfast at Tiffany's movie. We were given a DVD of that movie and have yet to even watch it. I guess I must finally be over not choosing a wedding song.

Fun thread. I look forward to reading what other members danced to.

Blessings,

Ours was the original "I Only Have Eyes For You". Lovely memory, thanks for bringing it up!

Ours was At Last by Etta James, played for us 13 years ago this October! We first heard it on "Northern Exposure" which was our favorite show at the time.

Edited just now ~ I took out the lyrics link as the site looked inappropriate.

I LOVE Steven Curtis Chapman! And I really, really like his insight to marriage. All About Love is a favorite CD--despite what the critics say.

OOh! I have to check that one out. It looks great!

Another wedding song that I used (during my protestant ceremony ) was Michael Card's Arise My Love. We were remarried in the Church three years later in a private ceremony.

We had a string quartet at our reception. They played Someday my Prince will Come. I was almost 30 when I got married, after all!

Dh was big into "alternative" music back in the olden days - he got me hooked, and ours was . It got our best man all choked up, at least! "Walk Forever By My Side" by the Alarm

Oh, I sang that to DH at our wedding reception!

Our first dance was, I think, "It's Your Love" by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. It was only 7 1/2 years ago, but it was such a whirlwind night that it seems like a dream now.

That's quite an encouraging thought...it does beat nightmare!    ...

We had a folk musician play at our reception....very John Denver-like. He has since gone on to record some CD's and is Catholic recording artist named Tim Durnan. His name was Tim Durnan before, but I can't take the time to rewrite this paragraph. My oven pancake needs to get out of the oven.

"And Then There Was You"...wow. That was kind of corny.

This image totally tickles me (and makes me want to see a picture). What a fun thread!

So was ours, Cay! June 15, 1985 (21 years next week). I knew we were kindred spirits, Cay...

I still hear "You're the Inspiration" on the radio from time to time and it always puts a dreamy smile on my face I know I have to get it on CD, but for now I only have it on LP vinyl

That would be the right time zone. Dh and I were married May 10, 1986.

We didn't have a formal reception, but we did have a theme song. Ours was "(Everything I Do)I Do it For You" by Bryan Adams, the theme song from the movie Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. Every time I hear it I get all mushy inside.

"It was no accident...me finding you."

Can you figure it out? We celebrated 9 wonderful years on June 7th.

(It's Tracy Byrds's "Keeper of the Stars" - a great country song.)

We had Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky." It is a very long song to dance to alone in front of a bunch of people!

We'll be married 6 years next Saturday, June 17. We had 2 "first dance" songs as both were super sentimental:

"True Love" from the movie High Society with Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly

and "Isn't It Romantic?" sung by Ella Fitzgerald.
