Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's only suppose to be in the 30s (lows in the teens) from Wednesday-Saturdy! That is way too cold for Missouri in November! I'm looking for someone to adopt me who lives further south, please! Well, if not I may have to go shopping for a winter coat today. Anyone else expecting way too cold temperatures this week?

- we are going to be about the same here. I heard south is going to be cold as well - but obviously not that cold - just cold for them. Southwest is still going to nice - so that is the way to go! Phoenix anyone....Angie???

Well, it's going to get cold here in NC, too! We're obviously not south enough.

Here in Calgary, Alberta the forecast is for a week of snow and below freezing temperatures.

This is better than the four days of wet snow we had at the beginning of September which broke quite a few tree branches across the city.   It's amazing how much difference the presence or lack of leaves make to the ability of deciduous trees to withstand snow.

Well it started - 20 degrees and some snowflakes this afternoon, though it has stopped now.

I spent yesterday morning stacking firewood (my son split wood from fallen trees at a friend's house, and the friend brought all the firewood over to my house yesterday morning). I hope that means we won't need to use too much of it.

Yes the temperatures here have plummeted to the 60s! ;-) actually, for FL it really has been chilly-nothing like yall have up North of course- but cold enough for coats & fires in the fireplaces. Unfortunately the cold also brings a rash of colic with our horses-we have had several pretty sick horses recently:-(

Wow, I grew up with horses and never knew that colic was related to cold!

Sorry about your horses, Kelly.

We are in North Florida and I don't like to mention our weather much during this time of year. In the summer I'll tell ya all about how we are near one hundred. LOL

Actually, it looks like we will be getting down into the lower 60s again this week. What makes me laugh though is that I will have one boy in long underwear, sweatshirt, and a hoodie at that temp and another will wear short sleeves and shorts with a hoodie only if he is going to be outside long in the wind.

Prayers for everyone getting snow and ice.

Where r u in N FL michelle? We r in Tallahassee. And u r absolutely right about our miserable hot summers!!!! I guess we can have a small gloat now because our summers really are untenable! Theres a reason we hightailed it to alaska this summer lol (along w multitudes of other floridians!)

The cold doesnt really cause the colic per se, but when the tperature drops the horses drink less (because its coooold!) and then they get impacted. Every time the temp drops-without fail- we start experiencing colic!

Kelly, we are in Jacksonville. We are usually a little milder due to being closer to the ocean.

We're experiencing the cold snap too--below freezing for the next week. We had such a lovely, mild fall that this change seems abrupt and unseasonable though it is mid-November. Fortunately my dh took a look at the weather forecast four days ago and thought of all the things we needed to do to winterize, so we are not unprepared. I took a look at the forecast and thought, "Perfect for cuddling on the couch with books!"

We had 90-degree temps last week and over the weekend. I thought we might sneak in one more beach day, but today felt almost chilly, maybe in the high 60s , low 70s. Sorry to post that. :)

Well the obvious solution is to go and visit the ladies in Australia.. I bet they're warming up nicely there.

And it was real weird for us since we went and visited family.. much warmer there (in the 80's) and then got home to 23* (which kept dropping to 11*). So tough adjustment. But then I like the cold (and my wood stove!) When we lived far enough south to be too warm imo, I explained to my dh that I'm really like those plants that need a period of cold to bloom my best I'm just hoping we get more snow this year. We got some bitter cold last year but little snow. It's so dry we need the snow and I "wanna build a snowman"

I hear ya Jodie. Even tho I am by nature and nurture a Florida gal, i DO love crisp cool weather, raking (& jumping into) piles of Fall leaves, bonfires, blazing fires in the fireplace, heating (vs AC) etc etc... And LOVE snow during Chtistmas (not that we get it here much but I did used to live in massachusetts & canada so at least had the experience). BUT...jan on-hey Im ready for brighter climes. In FL it seems like all our fronts last about 3 days so maybe Ive just been conditioned from birth to be meteorlogically ADD haha...

Still chilly in N FL but bright and beautiful. Glad to say my colicking horse pulled through. 36hrs of pins and needles (and IVs:-0) but looks like she'll make a full recovery, thankfully.

Ds in Colorado says theres LOTS of snow there! Thinking of you in Denver, Mary!

I love snow! If it has to be cold there better be snow to make it worth it! I've always loved winter until recently. I just can't warm up. I'm not sure if it's from getting older or thyroid problems or both. In the summer I'm usually too hot! That doesn't seem right or fair. I told my husband that we are turning the heat up this year because I can't sit around in all these layers of clothes and still feel chilled. It's going to be expensive though but cheaper than moving. That is what I told my husband!

More on his side of the metro area (west) than mine - but yes it is coming down and definitely feeling wintery here.

It was just wishful thinking that this cold would only last until Tuesday! Our 7 day forecast shows 30s everyday! Snow maybe Saturday night. Yikes!

We adopted a stray cat last Easter. This cat is not liking being outside in the cold. We have cat allergies here. Now, the cat likes to come in and find a place to nap and I allow it. The cat isn't allowed on furniture and I'm sweeping the carpet three times a week (compared to the normal twice) to keep allergies down. The problem is at night the cat gets bored and jumps in bed with my youngest, who has the allergies. He won't allow me to close his door to prevent this. I'm not sure how we are going to handle this but our cat now thinks he is an inside cat! Perhaps the cat needs to move south!

I also went to purchase a winter coat last night and that was a joke. The size I normally wear was two inches short in the sleeve. I went up a size and it was still an inch short. I couldn't life my arms up in the coat. I wonder if ordering a tall would help in the shoulder and sleeve length?
