I just realized I am starting my 15th year of homeschooling! That makes me feel good and old all at once. Also, I think after 14 years I should feel more sure of myself! But that is never the case!!

This is year 12 for us...our last year. I am not sure of myself, either, but I don't spend a lot of time worrying about it. (Time? What is this "time" you speak of?) I just keep trying my best and reminding myself that God's in charge, not me.
Congratulations on reaching this milestone, Barb!

Starting our 15th year as well and actually feeling more relaxed than usual. For the first time in many years, we are free from the public charter school we belonged to with the exception of Grace who is a senior. It seemed easier to have her stay and graduate since her records are there. Even though it was relatively easy to homeschool through this charter, I feel free of the requirements and schedules and manipulating I did and quick-do-this-stupid-science-worksheet-for-a-sample once a month hoop we jumped through. We loosely began school today and I thought it was overall just richer than what I would have done before. I envision a much more CM experience this year. That is my hope! I should put this in the hit and miss post. :)
Barb, I can relate to feeling old and good at the same time.

So true ~ so very, very true!
Congratulations Barb, you're doing such a valuable and important thing in educating your children! We just started our 25th, and final, year of official homeschooling ~ though we try to keep the lifestyle going as long as they're under our roof, particularly by supplying and strewing rich resources for faith and character building!
The past ten years have been our best and I hope you will be similarly blessed. I find we are more settled and many of the things I struggled over in the past ~ such as choosing materials for varied talents, interests and skills ~ have become second nature, thanks to the blessing of confidence that seemed to just develop naturally by simply doing what needed to be done. I'm ever so thankful to God for helping us stay the course and pray He will uphold and sustain you and your family, and all those who embrace this amazing labor of love!

Oh my it is year 15 for me too I am looking forward to this year. I finally get to use the Praire Primer unit study. 3 Girls in the right range . I am sad the baby is 4 sometimes but with school I think it will be easier this year. It helps too that the oldest is doing really well in college so I can see how things work out ok in the long run. Have a Blessed year! -Annie

Wifemommy, I always wanted to use Prairie Primer and never could! Enjoy your year...think of me when you dip candles or hem handkerchiefs...

I am finally starting to really get the swing of things with homeschooling this year. I have four boys. Fifth grade, second grade, kindergarten and pre-k. I did kindergarten with my fifth grader twice because he just was not ready the first year. I guess that means I have been doing this for, 7 years? Wow.
Thank you for the reminder!
Praire Primer looks so fun! No girls of school age.....
Warmly,
Jill

Oh Wow!! So inspired, thank you for sharing.
Our oldest just turned 21 so we've been chugging along on this journey for a while now but not up to 25 years!!
I imagine coming to the end is a huge bittersweet feeling!
And I do understand your settled feelings.
