Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We will be taking a car trip later this month through West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. It will be a long trip, so we are looking for small stops to help break up the drive. Does anyone know of a convent/monastery/shrine along our way where we could stop for daily mass and maybe a tour?
In West Virginia we will be going from Huntington to Charleston, then south to Bluefield. In Virginia we will be on the west end, on I-77. North Carolina will be I-77 to Winston-Salem, then over through Greensboro and Raleigh Durham.
Or other ideas of just a fun place to stop for an hour or so, so everyone can "get the wiggles out".
Thanks,
Jennifer

I was going to suggest Belmont Abbey, but it's too far to the west of your route to do you any good!

It's not a religious stop, but in Raleigh there is a group of museums- history and science- all in a row that are free and fantastic.

If you have time, stop at Old Salem in Winston-Salem. Again, not a pilgrimage, but a really interesting side trip, like a little Colonial Williamsburg, and one of our favorite places.

There is also this tiny Benedictine community in Davidson, NC. Again, kind of off your route, but Sr. Gertrude and Sr. Scholastica are delightful!
