I need a source for entertainment for about six weeks for my kids.

If you were looking for movies, would you choose Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Netflix It's way way easier for the kids to manage.. and for you to manage what the kids watch.

Another vote for Netflix for the same reasons. Also because when browsing Amazon on the screen there is a category for gay and lesbian movies. AND, even though you can set parental controls for what rating level movies are watched, you cannot prevent the covers and descriptions of those movies being displayed. At least I haven't been able to figure out how to prevent that.

If the kids will be scrolling through on their own, Netflix. If you are always in control of movie hunting then either. Prime has the added benefits of shipping and for a year is slightly cheaper (until they hike the price as I read will happen soon, then it will be a wash).

We had Netflix and just switched to Prime for this year. Netflix worked on my phone and iPad better than Prime does, so if you want usability on mobile devices I would go Netflix.

If Prime goes up and we don't become addicted to the shipping convenience, we will likely return to Netflix when our year of Prime is up. The available shows and movies in which we are interested are really not all that different.

Amazon Prime because of the perks--shipping and such! Yes they both have that category of movies...but we do not let our kids search as we use the prime on our laptop.

Another thought I had: if you only intend to use it for a limited time, Netflix you can have for just two months and then be done; it isn't a long commitment.

Maybe do a free month-long Netflix trial followed by a free month-long Prime trial (or the other way round)? That would cover the time you mentioned at no cost, and you can see which you like better.

Just some thoughts.

I hope this isn't off topic, but could someone explain the parental controls on Netflix?

We had a free trial of Netflix (three years ago), and terminated early because my 6 yo accidentally put on an animated porn movie. She thought it was just a cartoon, but it was terrible! At that time, we couldn't find any way to control what they could view. Is it different now?

What a brilliant idea!

I love hearing the pros and cons of each of the sites.

Do either of them have PS3 games to rent?

I do not think so. I do not recall having seen that option. Sony just announced it will begin a streaming game service for playstation. I think it will launch this spring.

Honestly, this is for the best. We only let them play sports games for the most part anyway. I was just curious.

I intend to cancel Netflix this month. Seems I tend to use Amazon and the library.   Can anyone give me a good reasons to keep Netflix?
