Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

~~~~waving hi to everyone! I wonder what you are doing right now? Are you taking care of yourself? Tending to your children? Your home? Making cookies to send to me as a gift? Whatever you are doing, I hope you have the support you need. Know that I'm praying for you, too.
We're having gorgeous weather here in Arizona, which makes everything easier and more cheerful. Dave is working more than usual. Devin and her baby are growing . Aiden is in the middle of college baseball recruiting. Ian is working on a business start-up. And John Paul is playing with neighbor kids who moved in recently, sweet. Sending sunshine to all who need it!
I was inspired by several recent articles to tackle the topic of procrastination at my blog. I would love to hear how you tackle this sneaky foe and I do think you'll like the linked articles. I also have a fun music post that I hope will make you HAPPY.
Good stuff at my Scoopit page to include links to free art books, best iPhone apps, and recipes that use phyllo, YUM!
How are you and yours?
Love,
Timely topic, Angie. I saw it and said "oh, I need to open that thread later and see what Angie has to say."    - then decided not to procrastinate and just open it know - but now will procrastinate while I formulate a reply...
Oh, I have been procrastinating on a few things this week! I've gotten a bit more take-charge as I age, but it still dogs me. I have noticed that anything that can be associated w/ negative emotions always seems to make it to the bottom of the "to-do" list over and over.
It's a balancing act.. if I'm busy I get more done because once I'm up and working it's easier to keep going than if I'm sitting down. Though the flip side is doing so much that I end up overwhelmed and do nothing.
I work well with "carrots". And I like having friends online I can post to to say what I've gotten done. Because then it's actually easier to say.. I can't get online until I have someone more to post.
The problem with procrastination is that at some level it "works". If you're good at judging how fast you can get something done you can wait until the last minute and still get it done. And the more that happens the easier it is to feel like procrastination isn't a problem.
Story of my life!
I make lists; I still feel happy crossing completed items off my lists, so that does help me move things forward.
Well here I am reading the Wednesday shout out on Friday...so I'd say it's a relevant topic for me!
Chronic procrastinator here. I find sunshine helps keep me more on task, as do lists (made the night before). The more tired I am, the more I procrastinate, the less accomplished I feel, the less I feel like doing anything...it is a vicious cycle. In this new year I am trying to create more of a rhythm here at home so that the kids can get up and get in gear with purpose as I have noticed that without direction RIGHT AWAY in the morning, they wander and it takes significant time and energy to get them back on track (at which point I no longer feel I have the energy to continue!). I know this habit formation will be good, but the process is EXCRUCIATING! Really, how many more years before they figure out that they need to sort laundry right away in the morning--as I have been having them do since they were 3!?
So routine, the kids being on task too, and having some sort of plan for the day all help with my procrastination problem. Also minimizing distractions (like keeping off the internet until what I need to do is done, or not starting a book until I have accomplished my goals for the day) is a huge help.
I will always be a procrastinator though, I think. There are too many good books out there!
