Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm in the idea gathering phase of doing some reorganizing in my 9 yo room. He needs more table surface and he has outgrown his dresser. I just can't see putting a bigger dresser in his already too small room. I'm thinking about putting the clothes that are in his dresser into the closet and putting some type of furniture where the dresser is that would provide a play surface and some toy storage. I'm looking for ideas. Anyone seen anything? Pinterest? I need ideas on the closet and this "dream" furniture piece. The hard part? There is no budget for this! I could spend up to $50 for supplies if needed, but I'm hoping to find what I need in the house already. Help, anyone?

My kids have drawers under their beds for clothing storage. My 12YO, who likes to dress well, hangs most of his clothing.

If you had two small shelves or sets of drawers that are similar height, you could put a tabletop or door across them to make table space.

Here is the bMartha Stewart version, but you could do it with taller shelves and provide a stool or with file cabinets or those plastic drawer sets.

Does he want to sit at a table? or does he just need a hard surface? for instance.. would a board on rollers to slide in and out of under his bed work? it could get it out of the way except when it's in use. And then it can be bigger for use.

You can also generally put a small dresser under the clothes hanging in the closet.. so that you still have the drawers for socks and undies while the pants and shirts hang.

Thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming!

I'm looking this closet over. It provides everything I need and it's something dh can do and I bet he already has most of the material to do it.

Lindsay, yes I like it! I could see it as long but narrow fitting in his room. Small bookshelves on each end for storage. I think I could do this cheaply.

We've had great success with rolling clothes for my 8 year old. Details at my blog.

For a flat surface, my sons pull out a 6' multipurpose table with folding legs and place it in their room or hallway for big projects. For example, they had it in their room to wrap Christmas gifts....then it collected their gifts...then it was put away.

Enjoy your new project!

Love,
