Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Books are starting to show up at my house.. so excited.

Last year for Advent we read selections fromDonkey Bells and then would read "the day" from Advent Story Book and then usually I'd have to add on at least one more picture book. It was wonderful and all the kids enjoyed it.. the younger ones listening to the readings for the older ones and the older ones hanging out for the picture books.

So this year.. I wanted more stories to read.. and we'll just see if we end up with the Advent Storybook again (the kids may "demand" it ) but I got Not Without Parables another book by the same author as Donkey Bells. And I got Catholic Tales for Boys and Girls and More Catholic Tales for Boys and Girls

Plus I got Strega Nona and Strega Nona's Harvest To use right away.. and then Stega Nona's Gift will be one of the picture books one of the littles gets for Christmas.

I love it when new books come to me

I'm working on getting my wishlist to a reasonable amount today.

Last year I purchased a few Tomie books.

For this year I already purchased The Miracle of St. Nicholas because Bethlehem books offered our Catholic Homeschool group a big discount. We got it from the library last year and knew we wanted our own copy!

I'm thinking about getting How Far Is It To Bethlehem and The Baker's Dozen and Letters From Father Christmas and I have some Jesse Tree books that I can't decide which to get.

Oh! I got this one for St. Nicholas Day.    We only do a very little bit.. some exotic fruit (like pomegranites) a few bits of candy (peppermint sticks, chocolate coins and maybe one other thing) and then a gift for the family.. this year we're doing 2 picture books.. the one you mentioned and The Legend of Saint Nicholas.

I don't always do books, I think last year was a movie. Sometimes they're about St. Nicholas and sometimes not. Usually a bit more Catholic than just "oh we want this movie".

I'm buying a lot of books secondhand and can get more books that way My kids think this is brilliant!

So far, the only book that I have ordered is Kersti and Saint Nicholas by Hilda van Stockum. This is a great book, but the colored pictures aren't as clear as I would like. They seem a little blurry to me (maybe, it is just my bad eyesight). I have seven more books to order/buy. I will be checking back for more recommendations.

I have my eye on Bambinelli Sunday

I am a big Amy Welborn fan. Priceblink tells me this book can also be ordered from Walmart for $10.66.

Oh, I have Bambinelli and Kersti on my wishlist too. I forgot about those! My list is a little too long! Some will have to wait.
