Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have some reading time coming up in the next day and books I put on hold at the library aren't ready . . . . well one is but I didn't see the email until I was home. I have A Little Way of Homeschooling on my nook and will be reading his. My question is for those who have read it. Any chapter you recommend? I'm not much of an unschooler. I'm looking for some general homeschool encouragement.

Willa Ryan's chapter is excellent, too.

Both Karen Edmiston and Melissa Wiley spoke at our conference this summer. Their talk was on "relaxed" homeschooling and covered the themes in each of their chapters from the book. It was really well received even by those who don't consider themselves "unschoolers".

I found the first part of the book very different than my comfort zone, as I don't like unschooling as a goal (although sometimes it does happen as a consequence). But the second part which had more focus on relaxed homeschooling, as the authors mentioned above, found more resonance with me.
