Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Rebecca Dussault!

A friend of mine was able to get her to speak at my parish while she was here in D.C. with the other Olympians this week. What a great inspiration she is for my girls!

How cool - we get to meet her, too, in a few weeks when she will be a speaker at our Catholic Homeschool Conference here in Denver. She is doing several sessions for our teen track. What an inspirational example she is to young people!

Mary M -- I think she's also talking at dinner and doing a talk for the adults? I'm pretty interested in meeting her as I loved what she (and her dh) said during and after the Olympics -- she definitely seems like the type of athlete I'd like my kids to emulate!

Definitely! She talked about her journey to become one of the best cross-country skiers in America, her Catholic faith, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, growing up homeschooled by her husband's mother, the difficulties of practicing her faith while traveling to sports competitions, her husband and young son and her hopes and desires for her own family, and of course, the thrill of competing in the Olympics. My girls were very impressed. And I loved the VERY positive things she said about homeschooling.

She was very friendly and approachable when we talked to her after her presentation. What a great role model for young Catholics!
