Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Due to the government trying to push the Chruch and companies to cover medical procedures and products that they don't want to cover, I drafted a letter to send to priests and bishops in our Church. I decided to post it here, too. If you find value in it or in the idea I propose, you are welcome to pass it on to anyone you want to or to edit it. I'd love to hear commnts as well.

We still have to fight the good fight to defend our faith and our freedoms in this country.
Thank you,
Mary

Dear ,

Time is approaching wherein the US government will push churches and companies to comply with the healthcare mandate even though the requirements are counter to the beliefs of their members.

Is there an alternative to health insurance? I propose that a share of cost plan would be a good alternative to health insurance for these churches and companies. Two Christian examples are Medi-Share and Samaritan Ministries. These are groups whose members decide what is and is not covered. Members pay a monthly portion based on certain criteria (family size, age of oldest member, out of pocket maximum, and individual health, for example). Obamacare allows for these types of plans.

Yes, we are called to fight the good fight. We can still fight the fight of our government trying to dictate that we follow something against our religious and personal beliefs. In the meantime, we can follow our beliefs by using a medial sharing plan instead of insurance with mandated coverage.

My proposal is this: the Catholic community and the Catholic Church itself should 1) discontinue offering insurance plans and 2) start its own medical sharing program for its employees and the general population or join one of the Christian medical sharing plans already in place.

Thank you for your time in reading about my proposal.

Sincerely,
