Completely last minute I know! But I am trying to come up with an alternative plan, in case these rosary boxes don't get finished in time ...
So I'm wondering, what are you giving mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts etc. on Sunday?
(Or what are you hoping to get? )
I'll be running out tomorrow, so I thought I'd ask today ...

Dawn,
I love your rosary holder. I've been wanting to make something like that here, but haven't really found what I want. Where did you buy yours?

I just ordered some herbal teas and a tea pot for my mom and mother in law. The package arrived the next day!! I couldn't believe it. I ordered it from Adagio.com. (I also ordered some tea for myself while I was at it!!)I had my kids make cards and we sent the packages off today.
As for what I would like, I told dh that a couple flats of flowers that I could put into pots would make me quite happy, or, better yet a bird bath to put in our Mary garden.

Dawn,
We made rosary boxes with our Little Flowers' group, last September. They didn't take long. We painted the wood boxes blue, using acrylic paint. We then glued (thinned glue with water) flowers, cut from magazines, on the lids and around the sides of the boxes. Finally, we Mod Podged the boxes and lids. You could also glue a picture of Mary on the lid or somewhere on the side of the box.
I think it was one of the children's favorite projects.
Our boxes and lids were two separate pieces.

The rosary holder I bought unfinished at AC Moore and then we painted and decorated it ourselves (after seeing Alice's post on Marian Altars). The boxes I also got at AC Moore. Love that store!

Thanks, everyone, for the ideas! And I hope your Mother's Day was lovely.
As it turned out, we had to postpone our celebration till next Sunday so I have a bit more time to work on the boxes!

Christine, our boxes are similar to what you described. We painted each one in a pastel shade (lavender, peach and blue) and embellished the top with a rose image. We lined the insides with pastel wool felt and I bought some Marian holy cards that can be propped up inside while praying. Actually the one for my grandmother is the Guardian Angel because that's her special prayer.
Since I have a bit more time, I hope to add some simple embroidered flowers to the felt (which we haven't glued into place yet).
I'll post the pics as soon as we give them out next Sunday. I don't want to spoil the surprise in case mothers and grandmothers are checking my blog!

I got them done in time! Well, I didn't get the embroidery done, but everything else fell into place. I posted pictures on my blog. I am going to make one for myself now!
