Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My parents are going on pilgrimage to Fatima, and they're taking me, our oldest daughter, our 11-year-old and little Nino (4). Someone will be driving for us and we'll be traveling from Madrid to Lisbon to Fatima to Santiago de Compostela.

Any specific places/churches/sacred sites you recommend we see while we're there?   We only have limited time (total 7 days) so a lot of it will be spent driving, but we'll try to squeeze in as much as we can.

Thanks so much in advance for any suggestions!

I'm also taking prayer requests!

Stef!!! How exciting for you - what a wonderful opportunity. I don't have much to offer since our Spain driving experience was between Santiago de Compostela and the Basque country so in the opposite direction. But I will say spend as much time in Santiago as you can. It is amazing. And I will pray that you are there on a day when they do swing the botafumeiro during the pilgrim's Mass. It is fairly random when it will happen - outside of holy days it only happens when a pilgrim group pays for it. We were very lucky to see it. Also, get there really early for seats if you are attending the Pilgrim Mass. I wonder if they are still going to be doing construction on the front entrance area. We missed the pillar of St. James that all the pigrims touch because of not looking around in the scaffolding. Wasn't til later after we left that I realized that.

How wonderful! My time in Spain was spent near and around Barcelona, so I, too, have little to offer by way of advice, but it is a beautiful country. What a tremendous experience1

We went to Fatima on pilgrimage years ago with Fr. Robert Fox. My parents came too and it is a treasured memory! Will you be there on the 13th of the one of the months that she appeared to the children? The candlelit celebrations those evenings with the international rosary are amazing.

There is a town near Fatima called Santarem that has a Eucharistic Miracle. My mother is a nurse and when she saw it, she said it looked exactly like heart tissue.

Also in Lisbon is the shrine to St. Anthony, and in Coimbra the monastery where he studied.

Enjoy!
