Does anyone know the difference between the Nashville Dominicans of St. Cecilia and the Dominican Sisters Mary , Mother of the Eucharist in Michigan??
...besides geography
I tried to find out something online, but unsuccessfully. I know that both are growing, orthodox communities and somewhere I read that the Michigan founders originally came from the Nashville house...
What would attract a girl to one over the other?

One of my friends is applying the the Nashville Dominicans of St. Cecelia. If you have any questions about that group, please PM me and I can give you her information. I am not sure about the Michigan community.

Yes, the Michigan sisters were originally in Nashville. They spent a year or so, I believe, of discernment under the late Cdl. O'Connor of NY, and felt called to start a new order in MI.
The vocations director in MI, Sr. Joseph Andrew, is a long time friend of ours from her Nashville days. She taught in dd's high school. This school has had several vocations to the Nashville house as a result of the sisters' witness.
Both orders are wonderfully, joyfully orthodox in their Catholic expression.

Thank you both for answering. I just wonder how a girl decides between the two of them, because they are both so joyful houses and I believe have the same apostolate-teaching.

It may be a question of which community chooses her! Or which one she simply feels a strong call to. The daughter of one of my best friends/sister of my oldest daughter's best friend is a Sister with the Nashville Dominicans -- she had been at the Air Force Academy, where almost immediately she was plunged into intense discernment. I don't know all the ins and outs (except that she was blessed to have people and resources around to support and encourage her), but at the end of her first year as a cadet, she left the Academy and, that summer, entered the postulancy for the Nashville Dominicans. I'm not sure where else she looked, or if she looked anywhere else.
Her mother is happy that she's in Nashville, because it's only six hours from here, so it's relatively easy to load up all the other kids (Sr. is one of nine) to go and visit, which they do often.
Besides Sr., we've met a number of other sisters from Nashville on a number of other occasions -- some of them teach at a school in Greenville, SC, and come up for our annual diocesan Eucharistic Congress in Charlotte. They are wonderful young women. I wonder how many girls' discernment is sparked or influenced by having met a sister or sisters from a particular community and feeling at once, because of the personal connection, that that's where they want to be.

The Nashville Dominicans reside at our parish and teach at the parish school. When our older boys were in high school they taught there as well. We have had such wonderful experiences with them - lovely, holy women. As far as discerning between the orders, like it has been mentioned I think it would come down to personal connections with the sisters or their location since the charisms and orthodoxy are so similar. For location consider the locations of their schools - not just the mother houses,

We have Nashville Dominicans at our parish school. That's one reason I felt comfortable shelling out the money to send my oldest there this year. I was absolutely gushing at our interview with the principal, because they are such rock stars. 
I also really love the Daughters of St. Paul. I really think they would be a good fit for my oldest if she felt called to religious life.
