Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have all of my Christmas shopping finished, save for one of my daughters. This daughter is at that age where she will still occasionally play with dolls, etc., but doesn't want a doll. Would any of you care to share what you are giving your 10 to 12 year old daughters?

My niece, who is in that age group, wants a purse, drawing pad/markers/crayons, and new pjs and slippers.

My daughter will be 11 in January. She's getting black leather boots from land's end, a babycakes mini donut maker from Kohls, the new Tinkerbell movie, a quarter folder (to collect all 50 states quarters), lego ambulance, a cheapy pedometer, colored pencils, these erasable pens and some nail stickers. We might get her this bow and arrow set we got her brothers. For her birthday she's getting new basketball pants and team sweatshirt, gold hoop earrings and a watch.

If she doesn't have the Girl's Doodle book I'd highly recommend that and a nice pack of Primsacolor pencils. That book and crayola colored pencils are my go to present for birthday parties she attends.

A Knifty Knitter is an often used item around here too. She loves to make baby hats to donate to the crisis pregnancy shelters. You can get that and some nice yarn and maybe a knitting bag or basket.

She also loves the book Olivia and the Little way and her St. Therese chaplet.

Craft kits--like friendship bracelet making, or the American Girl historical kits could be good too.

My dad is giving her a pass for a kid's night at a rock climbing gym.

Games we have that she loves: Farkle, Ruckus, Monopoly Deal, Phase 10, Skipbo, Othello, Sorry Revenge

Games the family is getting this year--10 days in the USA, Pit, pass the pigs, no stress chess, nowhere to go

Hope these ideas help!

My 11 year old just got her ears pierced for her birthday so she's getting some earrings and some nice smelly lotion and a joint gift with her older sister of "It's So You" and "Curly Girl" and the American Girl hair book (basic braids and such). AND.. I'm still looking for that not really that grownup yet gift. I'm thinking of a board game type of game.. maybe quirkle. It would be a "toy" without being too young

This is a great age for those Klutz craft and other books. And my older daughter loved that American Girl hair book at that age.

While she was in that age range we also gave her a book called Home Made. I think this is it, but I'd have to go comb her shelves for it to be absolutely sure. Anyway, it was a great favorite for a while. We ordered it from this company, which in general is a great gift resource, but which has some particularly nice offerings for girls in the "tween" range.

Hair stuff, gentle age-appropriate beauty stuff, jewelry, cute key chains, art supplies, craft supplies (my older daughter started knitting seriously around 10, so at 11 and 12 really loved getting yarn and knitting books), anything geared towards a serious interest, which often starts developing around this age . . . plus good books. So much excellent literature for this age, and Christmas is such a good time to load up!

Mine tends to request 'time' gifts. She has asked for a movie voucher and to go with her big sister.

Dd turning 12 just after Christmas is getting nail art stuff, she loves doing her nails with me, and this book is awesome, I wasn't sure how great it was going to be, and I was VERY happy with it, compared to another book we had gotten from the library, it has way more designs, and info on how to do nails. She's also getting these brushes for nail art and these rhinestones for dressing up the nail art designs and   these stickers, as well as these stickers for nail art, and with the stickers from that seller if you buy 2 you get one free. The stickers were much nicer than I expected from the pictures, and they are cheaper and nicer than ones I was finding in stores, and the seller even gives advice on how to use them in her listing. Just a note on the brushes and the rhinestones, the particular ones I linked to are sold from China, I did not notice that when buying, so hopefully they arrive in time, there are other imilar sets sold by US sellers on Ebay or Amazon.

Thank you to everyone for sharing. I now have a few ideas for the future too. I have Qwirkle, Prismacolors, and the Wii Lego Lord of the Rings game wrapped for other children in my family. I was happy to see them mentioned. "Time" gifts are definitely appreciated in our house too.

So far, this daughter couldn't be bothered with how she looks. I still need to remind her to take a shower and wash her hair. Each child is so different.

Melissa, thank you for bringing the doodle book and erasable pens to my attention (the latter might end up in my stocking). We will give the doodle book to Theresa. I think that her main gift will be these stilts. I know that the stilts might be a qwirky gift, but she has wanted them for a couple of years and I think that she will enjoy using them.

Scooter? Bike helmet? Little MissMatched Socks? Jump rope. REcipe book? does she like to cook? fun kitchen utensils. a decorated bulletin board.

My Favorite Brush of all times!

Would toiletries items motivate her? body spray? her own clippers? lotion?

Oooh, that Spornette brush is my favorite too.

I liked it so much that I bought one for our dog last year and it made her coat look beautiful.

There are so many different page a day calendars that are fun-
different animals, crafts, scrapbooking, etc. If she has a particular interest, maybe you could find one to match that.

This is my girl to a tee. In fact I finally gave up and cut her gorgeous, thick, black hair short because she just couldn't be bothered to brush it. *sigh* She has no interest at all in "girly" stuff.

I had stilts that my step-dad made for me at that age. I LOVED them!

I loved stilts when I was young, too. I'd definitely go with those for her gift, esp. since she has wanted them.
