Try this A Boy, A Man, A Mom. Admittedly, I'm an easy cry target today, but this one got me !

Elizabeth,
I'm not Cay but it teared me up a bit! My Joe will be (hopefully) going to LSU Fall 2007, so I only have him home with us another year. This is the one who does the babysitting, the hard manual labor and knows how to get me (every time!). He's showing remarkable signs of growing up -- but at the same time, growing away.....
Can you tell he's my first born?
Thanks for the tear-stained article!

As I was reading through this article something seemed familiar. "Pat Gohn, I know her." My s met her son, Bobby, whom the article is written about, several years ago at the Youth Conference in Steubenville. I spoke with Pat last summer to make arrangement for my s to travel to Boston to spend the weekend with the Gohn family. What an awesome family they are. They have done a fine job raising their eldest and their teenage daughter.
I know her son will do just fine....and make the world a better place.

Ah...our firstborns.
Now how did this lady know my oldest is "6-foot-plus man with stubble on his chin."
and has "baseball hats as permanent wardrobe accessories from the age of two."
and "who dressed up as a cowboy for Halloween" so many ages ago,
and who "I pray for driving his red pick-up down our driveway." (Yes, Corey's is red too )
AND how did she know "Once upon a time, (I) gave birth to an 8-pound boy" (yes, my son was exactly 8 lbs at birth).
Thanks for the heads-up, Elizabeth. I can share each and everyone of her sentiments. It's bittersweet but I am proud...so proud.

I'm not Cay either but that really got to me, too. Time goes so fast.
