I just discovered Radiant Magazine.
It looks like a really great magazine for young women. Does any know any more about it?
Thanks!

I have a subscription! I just got my first issue a few weeks ago.
I love the idea, I love that it is very reasonably priced. I love that it's something my 16yo daughter can enjoy.
But... it's tiny. It's more like a pamphlet. It's 5x8" and 14 pages. Granted there are no advertisements (actually there are 3 I think), and it does look just like a glossy fashion magazine on the inside.
Content:
There's a cute 1-page story of a young woman whose friends thought she was crazy for staying with her deceased husband's in-laws - turns out she's Ruth.
There's a 2-pages spread with 10 tips on how to dress. It's very light but it made me laugh with tip #7: "Leggings are not pants. We repeat: leggings are not pants!" Thankfully it made my daughter laugh too. She goes to the public high school so she is surrounded by poor young women who wear leggings, thinking they are pants, and boy do we get to have lots of conversations about clothing choices!
A short article about a 20-something missionary in Brazil. The two page spread is half text, half photos.
2 more pages of fashion picks, which I think are very ugly, but I'm a 39yo homeschooling mom, and I didn't like 80's styles even when we were in the 80's.
A one-page intro on faith and life being inseparable, with a link: tosettheworldonfire.blogspot.com
A tiny interview with Crystalina Evert, 5 questions and each answer is 1 paragraph - but it's nice for girls who haven't heard of her before.
A one-page ad for Matthew West
A one-page ad for 1heart2souls.org
The only thing that really disappointed me is a one-page ad for a photographer, which shows one photo with what I think is an immodestly dressed young woman. It's not horrible, but she's wearing a flouncy skirt that maybe barely reaches mid-thigh, and a pair of ankle boots with it. I wouldn't let my daughter wear something like that without leggings, if at all, because you can't really sit or walk up the stairs in something like that.
So my review is mixed: love the idea, disappointed at the light content, but it really is just a fashion magazine so I shouldn't have been surprised. I hope they beef things up just a tad, and for $8 I may renew next year anyway just to support the ministry of a Catholic-specific publication.

Looking through this magazine again, I think I will also share it with my almost-7yo. She will probably enjoy it more than my 16yo, who doesn't much care for fluff or fashion. There isn't anything inappropriate - "boys" aren't mentioned, but godly marriage is. Probably better than American Girl magazine, which is full of ideas for sleepover parties (which we don't do) and sometimes uses words like "boy crazy."

I do not know anything about Radiant Magazine - but I really really recommend Dignitas Magazine. It is only online right now and it is free. My daughter who is a high school senior really likes it. Here is the link: Dignitas Magazine
Here is part of their purpose statement from their website;
The purpose of Dignitas Magazine is to seek the truth about womanhood as God intended it to be, to encourage Catholic women to authentically live this truth, and to promote it in the world. We look to Sacred Scriptures and the teachings of the Church for our instruction. We strive for authentic holiness by seeking concrete ways to practice virtue. We eagerly look for relevant, winsome ways to promote the goodness of God’s image of womanhood in a world so hungry for the truth. Nourished by prayer and the sacraments and inspired by the example of the saints we joyfully embrace this task – and invite you to join with us!

I love love love this! Thanks for sharing this link. I hate reading things online... ugh. Wonder if I can print the whole thing out. It looks almost like some favorite blogs all rolled into one, and the "fashion" pages look much more my speed. More realistic, no 80's!

Dignitas Magazine looks really great!! To be fair though, I am not Radiant's target market (not by a long shot).
I wish both of these magazine the best of luck and will definitely pray for them to flourish in their ministry.
