Homeschool Buyer's Co-op is having a special on Discovery Education Streaming.
Plus $199 regularly $375
Basic $139 regularly $265
This looks very tempting to me, but it is still a lot of money. I am wondering if anyone uses this and if so, do you reccomend it? Can you compare basic vs. plus?

Our local school system has a subscription to this so we log in with the school's login and password to get free access - paid for by our taxes.
You may want to check to see if your local schools do the same.
There are a lot of good resources on Discovery Streaming, but I typically go to Netflix or Hulu or other online sites before I remember to check it. With all of the other online resources, I don't think I could justify paying the subscription.

I don't have a Netflix subscription. In fact I never even considered it for educational videos. Do you find it a worthwhile educational resource? It would be much cheaper than discovery streaming and would have fun movies also.

We do have Netflix streaming and enjoy it for ed purposes.
I'll give you one example of how we use it: I'm reading Little Stories of a Big Country by Laura Large to my 7 yo and he loves reading it! The chapters focus on a national park or a phenomenal aspect of our country. After reading, we go to Netflix and stream a documentary which gives us more visuals. We just finished reading about Yellowstone, so yesterday afternoon we streamed National Geographic's Secret Yellowstone and really enjoyed it!
We do this same thing (find a DVD that supports something we're reading about) for history, science, literature, religion, geography - almost anything we're studying, including some art history and Shakespeare. We really enjoy using tv-as-an-educational-tool in this way, so Netflix has been very worthwhile for us.
Netflix streaming doesn't have as much as the regular mail-the-DVD Netflix, so we actually maintain a subscription to both.
There are a number of Discovery channel options on Netflix streaming and regular Netflix, and we often enjoy those, but I can't compare how much more you'd get if you subscribed to Discovery streaming. I did do a quick check though and the DVD programs that are mentioned as part of Discovery streaming (like Frozen Planet, etc) are all available through Netflix. The thing I like about Netflix is that I also have access to National Geographic documentaries, BBC productions, etc, etc. It's just a wide range and a good variety.
You'd have to compare plan options at Netflix to see about price comparisons between the Discovery Streaming and Netflix streaming.

from the Homeschool Buyers Coop I found the following info:
***ATTENTION*** residents of Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama & South Carolina!
It has come to our attention that Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama and South Carolina homeschoolers can get access to get the "Basic" version of Discovery Education streaming through your local PBS station. Contact your local PBS station for details.
Alternatively, you may join our Group Buy, but you will be charged our non-refundable $10 transaction fee and pay the same price as other members, regardless of your state.
