Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm sorry I am starting a new thread; there's an archived thread about this here.

I updated my garden blog with some photos and posts this morning and then got an odd comment from an unknown individual. I went in and checked my publicity and sure enough I had mistakenly checked "Yes" to the "Make My Site Public?" option so he (or she) must have stumbled upon it through Typepad. Ugh. I feel violated and tempted to delete the whole blog and start anew ...

Just venting and looking for reassurance. Has anyone else had this happen and did you just bounce back or did it unsettle you as much as I feel right now?

Dawn, my Bonny Glen site is public and I do occasionally get comment spam. I just delete it. You can configure your settings so that you have to approve all comments before they go through, if you're more comfortable with that.

Does Typepad maybe allow you to ban some key phrases/IP addresses? I used to get a lot of phentermine spam comments until I banned the word. Or if you can maybe set your blog to filter comments that more than one link given? (Spam comments are usually littered with 2 or more links.)

I implemented comment moderation on blogspot on one of my blogs for this reason. I was really disgusted by a comment that I found on my garden blog the other day.

I'm probably overreacting. This comment was not disgusting or anything like that. At least I don't think it was ~ strangely enough it was just a long string of numbers. But it did freak me out (maybe because it was 4 a.m. and I was up all alone in the dark when I read it! ).

It was only the second comment on this blog (Stef you were the first! ) so it surpised me to get "outside" traffic there.

Thanks for your replies everyone. You've made me feel much better than I did early this morning.
