Today, I had our portfolio assessment for dd8.

The facilitator is a sweetheart, which makes it easy. DD8 has met and exceeded expectations for grade 3

i have her curricula for grade 4, purchased, received and approved Not that I needed the approval, but she was very impressed by the CHC curricula, she is even thinking about getting some for her son for over the summer. She said dd8 is a great little learner, learned concepts well, did impressive work.

She loved the tour of the continents we did too. That was in the grade 2 lesson plans, we make poster boards out of each continent study.

Now dd13, on the other hand....not as impressive. We mutually and silently agreed that virtual classes keep her more accountable, as I'm just "mom", and since she is bucking me on the courses she chose to do with me, it's just best she do it virtual school. Plus I know the teachers for next year, as dd15 had them last year, and they are awesome :) Not the path I'd like, but it is the best one for her. We'll be doing some extras at home, from CHC.... The Secret Code of Poetry. She can pursue art on her own, music on her own, without the hassle of assignments, those took away her joy.

But, despite our bumps in the road, dd13 is moving on to 8th grade, and mom learned that not everyone learns the same, dd13 obviously needs more structure. I'll be doing so with an iron hand..lol(not).
