Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I still haven't figured out how to do trackbacks.

Took me a while, too, Cay. I just have a headstart on all you Typepad folks.

All you have to do is paste a post's trackback URL into the trackback box right below where you type in the text of YOUR post. For example, say you're writing a post that links to Amy's latest post. If you enter her trackback URL in your trackback box, HER post will show a link back to YOUR post.

To find her trackback URL, you can either click on her post's permalink OR the word "trackback" at the bottom of her post. Look for where it says:

Quote:
Trackbacks

The URL to Trackback this post is:

http://amyable.blogspirit.com/trackback/687429

That's the URL you paste into the trackbacks box of YOUR post. When you publish the post, Typepad will "ping" Amy's blog to notify it that it has been trackbacked. From then on, Amy's post will show a snippet of YOUR post with a link back to you. It's a way of letting Amy's readers know that someone out there wrote about her post, and of course a lot of them will be curious to see what you said and they'll click over to you!

As far as I can tell, most Blogger/Blogspot blogs don't have trackbacks enabled. (That is, there's nowhere to click to find out what the trackback URL is.) However, they seem to have an automatic trackbacking function that picks up incoming links--that's why you'll see "Blogs that Link Here" at the bottom of many Blogspot posts.

I got it!!!

I said this once I accomplished this 'oh-so-in-your-face' detail and Garrett, with all the smugness of teenage-hood, said, "You're a genius, Mom."

I guinea pigged Karen E.'s recent post: Masterly Inactivity And it worked!!!

Boy, was I surprised to see that Trackback box right under my post block. I never paid it any mind before. But, that isn't surprising. It's usually the small, obvious things that elude me the most.

THank you, Lissa. I never would have found it without having you point it out to me.

I need to rethink the way I tell my children to look up information. And definitely quit telling them, "It's right in front of you...right under your nose."

Evidently, they get this trait from me.
More than one lesson learned today.
