Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Now that we live in a popular tourist/vacation spot, and have a larger home, I've been thinking about signing up for HomeExchange.com as a way to travel more inexpensively. Then it occurred to me that perhaps other homeschooling families might like to swap homes at mutually agreeable times, since we are all similarly flexible with travel dates and are all set up for family living. Anyone interested?

We are near Washington DC (15 min to the Metro), Annapolis (20 minutes), and Baltimore (40 minutes). We'd be open to long weekend swaps for locations within driving range, or longer trips (1 week or so) elsewhere, to any interesting location. Totally flexible on dates. If you are interested, pm me.

Heather--Have you seen this site for homeschoolers home exchange?
http://www.hsneighbor.com/index.shtml

Has anyone done this?

We had an incredible trip to DC a few summers ago when a great 4real family put all 8 of us up for the week in their basement--so generous and charitable. Would love to know if anyone has experience with the site above as we are planning our fall vacation. Not sure we would qualify for exchange but we do live in a cute town near Madison--in an old rectory

Laura, thanks for letting me know about that site, that's just what I was thinking ought to be out there! I talked with the owner and they currently have 70 homeschool families listed all over the country. She wants to continue to build the site and is offering membership free for the first year to anyone who is interested. I'm going to list our home and see what happens.

For those who may be interested in taking advantage of the first-year-free offer, here is the information:

Below is the info for your free membership. I would also ask that you include at least one photo of your home with the isting, there is room for eight, the more photos the more fun for everyone!

1) Visit our home page, www.hsneighbor.com
2) Click on "join now" and follow the instructions.
3) On step 2, put "5812" in the promo-code box.

This will bypass the shopping cart and you can begin working on your home listing immediately.

Please email me if you have any questions or need any help. After you complete your listing, I would appreciate any feedback that you can give! Talk soon!

Happy Travels,
Amy Davidson

PS...Also Heather, if you have any other friends that you would like to participate in my free offer please share this info with them.
