Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone recommend a good digital baby thermometer? It's so hard to keep a sick baby still for a rectal or under the arm reading, I would gladly invest in a good ear reading one. I have an inexpensive thermometer from Walmart by First Step but I was wondering if the thermometers you can use in the ear for a quick temp is worth the money? If so, which ones and why?

I had to bring my 4-yr-old in last week to have a broken wrist X-rayed. They used a new thermometer that scans the forehead from temple to temple. One swipe across the forehead and it gives you the temperature.

Tranlation = Expensive!

I really like the ear thermometer. We have a Braun that had lasted a few years and still going. I like being able to take their temp while they are sleeping with less of a chance of waking them up.

According to our pediatrician, the ear thermometers don't take reliable temperatures in children under a year old. We found our Braun ear thermometer didn't take reliable temperatures on the adults in our family, either! A couple of years ago we bought a thermometer like Cay described. It is this Exergen one.

We have been very happy with it, and it can be used on any age person.

OH! Get a temporal thermometer! They are awesome easy to use and way more accurate than either under arm or ear and safer/easier than rectal.

Even St. Jude's Children's Hospital uses them.

They are expensive though.

We rarely bother with taking tempertures around here, but these are relly nice for those itty baby months when parents need to be a bit more cautious.

Thank you! I never heard of the temporal (forehead scan) thermometer. I will look into it today. We have a feverish one year old who wakes up each time I attempt to take her temp. I knew there must be a better way. The Exergen one is $50, a little expensive, but I think it's use in a large family will justify the $.

Thanks again for all the input.
