Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone seen this movie The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet?

My cousin was telling my aunt how wonderful a movie it is.

It's a Netflix instant play.

I'm wanting to make sure it isn't against the Catholic Church. I'm ok w/ a realistic view of the Church in the Middle Ages but I hate outright, deliberate slams.

Cay we just finished watching the tv series is that what you are talking about ? The series has Donald Sutherland & Gordon Pincent so I assumed it was a Canadian series .
Several other ladies here have watched it too I know because they told me on fb they liked it .
It is most definately adult content ! It shows human weakneses in all people .It depicts priests , bishops , monks , royalty and the poor in all different lights being both good & evil .In the end the grand catherdral is made and it is the result of holy devote people who suffer , stumble etc.
It is not a we're catholic and it is all good kind of show ! also again if your aunt is older there are scenes in it that are very adult men touching female body parts & a few *** scenes etc. I would very much monitor who is watching !
I personally could handle it but even so some parts I had to just close my eyes .I have trouble with depictions of battle scenes involving swords & public beheadings etc. closing my eyes and knowing it is happening is enough for me
again you may really enjoy it I'd would just be cautious about the veiwing .
I think it was a book also ?

Thank you!

This is the version I'm watching. Didn't realize it was made just last year.

I watched Episode I last night.

As long as there's no Catholic bashing I think I'm good. I love Medieval History.

I haven't seen the movie, Cay, but I read the book several years ago. I really enjoyed it, but it does have some adult content. The story touches on the themes of faithfulness, repentance, the pursuit of beauty and the cost of that pursuit. It raises questions about the integrity of priests and bishops, but also illustrates the inestimable value that a faithful priest or ecclesiastical leader can have not only on his own congregation, but on many other people throughout the course of history. The book has a great deal of information on the building and development of Gothic architecture. The story ends by showing the ultimate results of both betrayal and loyalty.

I hope the movie is as good!
