Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone want to come over for tea today?

Ok...the house is a disaster.

The kids are fighting.

And I am badly in need of adult conversation.

Any takers?

i'd love to come to tea.. my kids would for sure be a distraction for yours

But since that won't work.. I do think we can have some adult conversation online at least

Do you get a tax return? I know quite a few people, myself included, that do and we've been talking about what we'll be spending that on.

I'm putting a good bit aside for the usual every 6 months bills.. insurance mainly, and lacrosse and swim team.. oh but I also will be doing a bulk order with my sister at Walton Feed.. mainly dry goods.. grains, flours, dry milk, hot cocoa mix .. things like that..

Tonight is the cub scout pack meeting. It should be fun. My son's wolf den is singing "Chicken Lips and Lizard Lips"

but that does mean I need to figure out an early dinner.. hmmmm I have no clue what to make.. I should check out the freezer and see what's there I guess.

Maggie, that sounds heavenly. Unfortunately, we are in the middle of moving today! Please drink a cup and put up your feet for me!

I'm wishing for some adult conversation. I do have two violinists working on symphony music in the background...but Laundry Mountain is also in view. I'll drink some Green Citrus Tea with you.

I'm brewing a cuppa right now....anyone still here?

I can't wait for a little spring weather..enough with the snow...

Listening to "Papa Haydn" and kids playing Monopoly in the background

Wondering what to serve as side dishes for dinner. My daughter took out steaks (they were on sale...a treat!) so I'm thinking salad...maybe potatoes but I'm feeling like something more colorful.. Maybe carrots? They're not too popular here for some reason unless they are raw.

I'm without a car today. It's getting oil changed and windshield wipers repaired for the third time..the thing is just falling apart around me but I hate to even think about trying to buy a new car until it is completely dead.

So what are you up to today?

We're in. Had several errands yesterday, and errands just wear me out.

My dd took it upon herself to pull out a bunch of crafts to make Valentine's with. I am sitting in our homeschool room with my dc...and a floor FULL of glitter.

This morning, I sent my dc outside with birdseed to throw...apparently my son was pretending to "throw birdseed" (glitter) and feed the birds.

I need to get out, though...just feeling a bit gloomy...and overwhelmed with housework...and the school work we are not doing.

I'm gonna run over to my mom's here in a few. she lives with my sister and she's making a period costume for one of my girls.. well all of us.. but needs the girl for the current dress she's making to try stuff on. And I'm gonna try out my sister's wii fit while I'm there and see what I think.

then as I said above.. I need to figure out dinner so we can eat early before the pack meeting.

what about fried rice for a more colorful side dish with the steak? and serve the carrots raw with the salad.

Put my feet up?

I will drink a "cuppa" for you--caffeinated.

I love moving--purging is so much fun! And the adventure of a new place!

oh Walton Feed is a place that sells bulk grains.. really cheap but then you have to factor in the shipping. They're in ID so shipping isn't too bad to OR.. if we get a large amount (500+ pounds) the shipping is .33/lb or less which is pretty good and keeps the cost cheaper than anywhere else I can buy most of the time.. you do need to check each item to be sure. I usually buy my wheat berries, pinto beans, brown rice, rolled oats, popcorn, rye, dry milk and hot cocoa mix there. I love having dry milk on hand.. no running out because you just found out in the middle of a recipe that you're out of milk.. or you cna use it to beef up the nutrition in breads or make gravies and no one notices a taste difference and stuff like that.

AHHH!!!! Adult conversation! Multi-syllabic words!!!

Maggie wrote:

Yep!! Special treat for me today - Rob made too much coffee...so I have a bonus cup!!! Nice, warm, cafe' au lait! Second wind, here I come!!!

We had Mass this morning, and then made it home for afternoon chores. The house is finally settled. BLISS!

The 3 yo is napping!

My 6 yo is watching the 3yo's Leap Frog DVD...the new Numbers Ahoy one? Do you all have that one yet? It's nice for the pre-school crowd. We have Amazing Alphabet as well...also good for my little. Both are the newest DVD's in the Leap Frog line-up and they were a fantastic price at our Costco so I grabbed them both.

The big kids are finishing up their lessons independently...and I'm anxious to watch our next Alabama Natural History DVD with them this afternoon.

I have a nice package of pork chops in the fridge that I'm making for dinner tonight....with roasted lemon, onions and garlic on top. I think I'll do some potatoes au gratin and roasted green beans too. Which reminds me...I need to go pull out a bottle of chardonnay to have with dinner...and with dinner prep. So....dinner is planned....just have to execute!

That's it for me for now. I'm going to go enjoy this warm cup of coffee and claim my afternoon reading time! Happy Thursday afternoon, Maggie!

There I got a roast in the oven (from frozen so I didn't want to wait) and we'll have potatoes with that.. don't think I have carrots for it though.. guess we'll have green beans.. kids like those.

Oh...dinner...

I have failed miserably at dinner the last 3 nights...failed as in...it tasted terrible!

Usually, we tell our children they need to be grateful for whatever God gives them on their dinner plates. We never make them eat everything...but a good amount.

But last night...when my 3yo looked at meat and told me he didn't like the chicken (it was ham)...I thought, "Neither do I." It was so bad...I couldn't make him eat a single bite.

And don't ask what I did to the mashed potatoes. I was on the phone with a friend while cooking...and...well...if you can royally mess up mashed potatoes (which I didn't think possible), I did.

True confessions here...I HATE glitter!!! SSHHH! Don't tell my kids..they LOVE it!

Good idea! I love fried rice, and I've already got green onions cut up from last night's dinner, so I can toss those in easily...

My grandfather used to have a grace that went like this: "My God, what has been provided for us???" LOL! Maybe you could use that one...

yeah...it's that "executing" part that gets me! Isn't that what they did to the martyrs???
Another "grand" quote from my grandmother on working in the kitchen, "It's not the heat, it's the HUMILITY!"

I'm taking a quick break from housework. My husband will get dinner tonight!    I randomly decided to do spring cleaning early this year. We're doing so many house repairs that I need to make time for painting the house this spring, so the deep cleaning needs to be done now. Today, I've shampooed the furniture and the rug, and have washed down the living room baseboards, window sills, and walls. My fingers are sore from scrubbing, but it's so worth it because the house just smells so fresh right now! It's better than the normal cleaning fresh. I think the fabrics may absorb odors throughout the year. Now I'm thinking of steam cleaning the computer room carpet since it's such a high traffic area in the house...

I'm really looking forward to having a glass of wine tonight!!

Hi, ladies.....would LOVE to have a cup of tea with y'all! REALLY, I'd prefer a margarita or martini.....

We're a bit melancholic around here, as my mom left today after her 3-week-visit

The kids have friends over and they're playing outside, but I don't have any playmates to cheer me up...

Dinner is chicken with a jar of marinade thrown in, rice and broccoli. DH got home early this week, so I had to come up with something a bit more substantial than the rice-and-peaches-dinner.

I'm off for a 10-minute-walk, and will join you, JaysFamily, for a little glass of wine in about an hour!    Hmmmm....tea? Hard liquor? Wine??? So many options!!!!
