Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Greetings dear sisters in Christ,

Please forgive my forward countenance...
I posted here a little over a year ago, begging prayers, for my marriage, and you all responded in a way I have never experienced before or even since. Thank you! Though that could never be enough...

I am now in search of books or resources in dealing with healing a hurting marriage. I am at a complete loss as to where to turn, I am trying not to give too many details, as I know this is not allowed here and I do not want to be disrespectful to my husband nor to any of the moderators/posters here. I hope it is ok to say, simply, that I am still hurting badly, and it is making our efforts at restoring our marriage and family, even more difficult. I know to consider counseling, but honestly, I need to make some progress in my heart, before even that could be beneficial. I hope you understand.

Thank you, so very much, for all your help. May God bless each of you abundantly.

There's a program through the Church who's name is escaping me at the moment.

Praying for you and for your marriage. Praying for your husband and spiritually placing him in the arms of Jesus and Mary can be very freeing for your own soul. It can also help to remember, you will only account for your own individual soul when you face the Lord oneday...as spouses our primary focus sometimes has to be strengthening our own relationship with God, allowing Almighty God to work on our husband's souls. May His grace bring about grace-filled, powerful changes in your lives.

thanks Betsy, apparently having a headache negatively influence my memory and it has enough problems on a regular day.. but the headache is under control now.

AND I just remembered.. it may not be so much a "how-to" book but it can be helpful to read success stories..

And this book Amazing Grace for Married Couple is that.

I just want to offer you some prayers as well. We have been there. We went to Retrouvaille, and that is what saved our marriage from a lot of pain.

I have friends who have spoken to the Alexanders several times at diocesan events and they say it's a great ministry.

Another option that I would encourage you to explore is speaking to someone at Pastoral Solutions Institute.

Both the Alexander House and Pastoral Solutions are Catholic organizations.

I am praying for you!!

For Better--Forever!! by Gregory Popcak

There's a book I'm reading now called Switch by Chip and Dan Heath. It's not really a marriage book, but it has a lot of great food for thought about making changes.

Wow! Thank you all, so very, very much! I knew this was an excellent place to go! I will be exploring all these resources in the days to come. Thank you, also, for your prayers, they truly mean so much, especially as I feel I am walking in darkness, you are each a glimmer of light to me. May God bless you all.

The daily Rosary is what saved my marriage. Really. But, patience also. It took 7 years for my hubby to start turning around. I still say the daily Rosary to this day, and I see so much progress in our marriage and miracles.

I have heard Dr. Greg Popcak (devout Catholic psychotherapist) recommend a book entitled Divorce Busting.

We bought a copy for a family member, but never perused it ourselves...so I cannot give a first hand recommendation. However, if Dr. Popcak recommended it, I am sure it has valuable insights.

I, too, would recommend the Pastoral Solutions Institute.

I have only worked with Dr. Popcak in the past--he is extremely knowledgeable...I cannot recommend him enough.

The big bonus is that all the counseling is tele-counseling...so no need to schedule appts and cart the kids around, etc.

My prayers are with you.
