I have been craving blue cheese for the past 2 weeks. I have been eating it on salad with grapes or dried cranberries and sunflower seeds. Weirdest thing...this is the first time I have ever purchased blue cheese.

What food, drink, meal from childhood, restaurant item, etc. do you crave? And if you have any further ideas for my blue cheese, let me know    .

I love blue cheese. You could make home made bleu cheese dressing. Our local chain of Red Robin (a hamburger restaurant) has a "blue ribbon burger." You could make it at home. Its a hamburger with blue cheese on top with Heinz 57 and French fried onions plus lettuce and all that. Even if you didn't like the other stuff, bleu cheese on a hamburger would be awesome with a nice bun.

I've been meaning to make carrot cake with cream cheese frosting recently. I even bought the cream cheese in hopes I would get to it. Its been a long time since I had a piece of good carrot cake. I omit the raisins.

Havarti cheese with dill is great on salmon burgers (from Costco). I'm just sayin'.

I am craving all fall/winter foods now because I refuse to make them when my kitchen is 90 degrees in the shade. This happens every year. By January my family is always ready to mount the Soup Mutiny.

(But they don't - who would cook? )

I love carrot cake...mainly for the cream cheese frosting - yum.

nancy, is the dill in the Havarti? I love cheeses mixed with herbs or fruit. I love the Weslydale (sp?) with apricot that is seasonal at Costco.

More cravings...

I've been craving the best calzone I've ever eaten...unfortunately, it is at a small pizza shop in Lewisburg PA. we lived there for a short stint years ago and I STILL crave it. Nothing here comes close.

I find myself craving sushi quite regularly. I often have wondered if it is my body telling me I am missing some key nutrient found in kelp like iodine perhaps. The body knows what it needs, somehow.
Right now however, still transitioning to a gluten-free lifestyle, I find myself craving a big crusty, yeasty loaf of bread, fresh from the oven. Ahhhh....now that would be heaven!

Oh, btw..you can make your own calzones. If you are looking for pizza parlor quality, you could always purchase the dough directly from them and assemble the insides. I just make my own...mmm and don't forget the olive oil...

Here in the northeast, we have italian food like no one's business!!

That we do. I didn't realize it until I lived elsewhere. My sister-in-law in Georgia still can't find a really good NY style pizza and we have them all over town (which is not necessarily a good thing ).

And Philly cheesesteaks oh my --do not get me started!! Love them!

...this may be a bit simple, uncomplicated, even boring for some, but I have a thing for gluten-free, wheat-free frozen waffles which I pop in the toaster every morning before I even say 'mornin to my hubby. Slather on a thick layer of real butter and raw honey and I'm instanly carried away to a heavenly edible oasis, as I cup my hot goji berry-green tea in the other hand. (yes, bravo I say). I won't be giving up this healthy addiction any time soon

Oh man....pizza! I crave NEPA pizza and my fave is Maroni's sausage pizza from my growing up stomping grounds. On the south side of town is an awesome sweet pepper pizza. Down Wilkes Barre way is an amazing shrimp and hot pepper pizza. And I can't begin to narrow down my faves in Old Forge - The Pizza Capital of the World! - probably the white (no tomato sauce) and green (white with broccoli.)

Here in AZ, the pizza pickins are slim by our east coast standards. Oregano's is good for a fix and they have nice beers on draft. But to get a super fix, we go to San Diego to eat at Filippi's.
It's funny, but when I meet someone living in AZ who is originally from PA, NY, NJ or Chicago , we end up talking pizza.

Ooooooooo, what a great way to use a concentrate. I've made a similar salad and use orange juice with vinegar for the dressing and orange pieces on the greens with feta and nut. YUM!

They are Van's Natural Foods Waffles.

My favorite are the "Totally Natural" waffles (if there was an emoticon for licking my lips and rubbing my belly, I'd insert that here).

Oh Donna Marie, if I could replicate this calzone, I would. Each component was great - the dough was classic yet a bit yeasty sweet - the ricotta cheese melts in your mouth and was piled high - the ham was Italian - and the marinara sauce...oh how I tried and tried to replicate that sauce!...it was light and fresh and packed with garlic.

I'm starting to feel sorry for myself just thinking that I may never have that calzone again - poor me!

Oh....and I majorly crave an incredible tri-tip that I used to get in Fresno, CA. Not known for its food, Dave and I managed to find a mom and pop shop that served southern home-style sides (greens, corn bread stuffing, peach cobbler, etc.) with this tip smothered in the best BBQ sauce ever.

I'd better stop thinking about these fab foods and go eat my baked potato...sigh.
