Hello,
I'm writing to say that my 74 year old father has been diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis‏. He's pretty much attached to an oxygen tank around the clock and is limited in his activities. He has been a hobbiest painter, sculptor/craftsman his whole life, but he now has to stay away from the chemicals in the materials and mediums he was using.

I'm looking for ideas for a Fathers Day gift for him. Something that is calming, yet lets him be creative. It definitely cannot emit any toxic fumes. I was thinking of getting him something natural like beeswax crayons, modeling beeswax, and even MagnaTiles (which my kids love!), but I'm wondering if it would be too childish. My dad is somewhat of a kid at heart anyway, (He loves watching the old Tom and Jerry, Disney's Jungle Book cartoon, etc.).

I am so sad, to be honest. This diagnoses comes to us as a surprise and a shock because he has never been a smoker, and if anything, we thought it would be his diabetes that would get him really sick. I'm only 30 and would like to have him around a lot longer. I live in another state, and only get to see my parents about once a year. I call them every few days though, so we keep in touch pretty well. I have to try and remember, that whatever happens it is the Lord's will that is best and not mine.

Thanks for listening. I would love some ideas for a gift he can use to be creative, but that is non-toxic.

what about something like a book on watercolor painting and some water colors? I would guess you'd need to be careful of staying non-toxic with those too, but certainly possible. I assume he can't do the painting he's used because it's oil painting or such?

The beeswax would probably be a great idea too.
