Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I really need to catch up on the news. We get the paper on Fri-Sun. but it seems like a lot's gone on this week (nat'l/internat'l) and I don't have a clue !

I'd like to find a good honest source that isn't too longwinded and/or intellectual....I just want to check in and find out what's really going on from someone without too much of a slant/agenda....what do you read?

These are the three I check regularly. Fox News, WorldNetDaily, and Greg Popcak's blog which is great for Catholic news.

Gwen,

On MyCatholic.com I just chose a few secular and a few Catholic sites -- CNN, NPR and Catholic World News, Ignatius Insight, USCCB news releases. There are others, those are just the ones I chose.

This way I can scan the headlines every time I go on-line as MyCathlic.com is my home page. I've also got the readings of the day, saint of the day and catechism lesson.

Hope that helps....

I LOVE having MyCatholic.com as my home page. I do the same thing as Mary. There are many "headlines sources" that you can choose from and they all appear on your home page. Try it!

Oop, I forgot to say...

Having the different sources helps you immediately see any slant that they may have.

Hmmm, this has me thinking, maybe I should add Fox and CNN to my lineup and see their different takes on the same news (I know that it even shows up in the headline!)

Me too. I really love having MyCatholic as my homepage, and so does dh. I like the variety of news sources they link to. I also like to visit MSN and Yahoo news sites. The best thing is having that quick saint of the day, meditation, bible verse, and catechism reading. Even if I don't get any other religion done in a day, at least I've got that!
